| | I'm getting cranky
Covid19 or just age?
I had quite a spat with a young woman today who was condescending and arrogant towards me while she took her time filling up gas at a very small gas station. Not going too much into details, I told her boyfriend I felt sorry for him for having such a "egoistische Zwetschge" as a girlfriend.
She deserved it but I'm usually above this kind of behaviour.
My rant of the day.

My guess would be that it would take a lot for her to respond.
Don’t be sorry Olygirl.

Sorry to hear that. Fortunately I had a slightly different experience at a Gas station today.
One Maserati looked liked finished fueling and was pulling out. I was almost on the road waiting and took the spot. This is when I saw a lady knocking on my window and looks like that lady was struggling to get that Maserati into the right position for fueling. She said the car belongs to her husband and she is still not comfortable.
I found another slot next to her and we ended up chatting for couple of minutes. She was either nice or embarrassed. Either way it was a nice experience | The following 8 users would like to thank Ryan_CH for this useful post: | |

I think many are experiencing Covid fatigue. These times are unprecedented and don't always bring out the best in people. Not easy to say the least but I don't think you should worry too much olygirl; we all have bad days and wish we could take back things we have said notwithstanding actions we regret
In short, many have been there (including me!)... PS...there are many Karens out there!

To be fair, there are also many "agitated" men out there as well. Why haven't they come up with a term for the male "Karen" equivalent? :confused
It definitely has to sound American: maybe Tom, Jim or Frank?

Did he agree?
Never mind, I never freak out either but this two neighbours make me flip about once a year now. (They get it in turns, so every other year for each ). It feels shit but hey, some just don't know "wie blöd sie tun sollen" (how stupid to get until way over the limit).
At least it has an effect for a few weeks each time. |

I still remember paying for one of my cranky moments - two ladies in the Swiss notorious slow walking fashion were blocking the sidewalk when I was running late to the pharmacy before they closed. I mumbled "Jesus" as a pushed past them...they followed me into the pharmacy screaming "Jesus has nothing to do with it!!!"

Had myself a senior citizen cranky moment yesterday. Must admit in retrospect I feel bad for the young lady behind the counter.
As you probably know Germany took the Bundespost out back behind the bins and shot it, what I did not know was just how dead it had been killed.
I needed to send a card for my mom´s 84th birthday and I was cutting it a bit fine so I asked for Eilpost, or rapid post. Not knowing that this service no longer exists and has been replaced by DHL´s Express service.
From behind the plexiglas and into her mask the girl mumbled what I heard as sexufüfschig and translated to Euro 6.50! "WOW!" I thought "...that´s...expensive!" Anyway went through the paperwork and finished off, put 10 Euros on the counter expecting change...
She looks at me and to my tenner and it still hasn´t clicked.
Behind me the line has grown longer.
She is looking at me like I am an imbecile and I´m starting to feel like one.
"SECHS UND FÜNFZIG EURO!" She finally blurts out and I´m all "WHAT?" and "NO FREAKING WAY" I was clearly rattled and thought it was just a misunderstanding.
"Eilpost" I said.
"This is Eilpost" she answers
"Eilpost doesn´t cost 65 freaking Euros, I just want Eilpost, and in this case not DHL
She is starting to look scared, me big guy, she small girl, thin sheet of plexiglas between us and I was in full biker rags and annoyed.
Behind me the line starts to grumble.
My brain was starting to fumble for a way to get my meaning across.
"A-Post!" I tried, forgetting that I no longer live in CH
Nothing
"Vorzugspost!" Austrian, also a nope.
"Erste Klasse" I finally blurt out, showing my age by looking for the little red stickers.
In the end I simply sent the card by snailmail with a normal stamp and the hope that it get´s there before mum´s birthday.

My rant of the day. | | | | | Well, local motorists have quirky attitudes. One of them is being on rush on parkings or gas stations.
Something similar to the gas station happened to me once but at place with 4 pumps. When I arrived I was alone, filled up, and went inside to pay. When I returned to my car there was a guy waiting for me to leave in spite of other 3 pumps available. While I cleaned my windshield I overhead the guy said something and just ignored him because the loudmouthed guy never descended from his SUV.
The underground parking for my flat has a 90 degree blind turn. I do 10 km/h or less because: it's a blind turn, narrow passage, and sometimes my neighbors also pass by there by foot or on a bike. Somehow, my senior neighbors are infuriated by this in spite on their cars with scratches in mirrors and rims.....the damned rush. One of them tailgates me in the parking and has flashed the lights more than once. If only they had this rush while driving on the left lane of the highway
Since last March (covid) I try to fill up in the evenings, after 20h00 there's no one in there.

Most people here are polite, though. And purposely pseudo-impolite when being funny and then they overexplain it 10 times and apologize 20 times.
A friend works at a gas station and another was a flight attendant. Both said that some people are under a weird spell when travelling.

Weather or covid fatigue ?
Either way, I blew my top at a young teen who wasn't wearing his mask properly on a crowded bus on Saturday. After he ignored another person who politely indicated to him to please wear it properly...
He told me he did not 'f'n care about my kid who has a medical problem that means covid is deadly' and even after the blow out, he still refused to put his mask on properly...
Justified ? I dunno. I wasn't expecting a mouth full of crap, I simply asked him into his face if he understood that the other passenger was asking him to please wear his mask properly.
In the time we all glared at him he took off his mask completely (At which point I blew my stack), wiped his nose with his fingers, then touched several places on the bus, and re-adjusted his mask several times, but still did not wear it properly.
No more saturday shopping for me!
However, I did feel supported when he mouthed off and at least another 6-8 people on the bus muttered from behind. He my have wanted to assert his teenage ego (I reckon he was about 14).... but I hope his ears are ringing with his 'I don't give a f;kjasdy about your kid'... comment.
So, you're in good company...have a great day and stay away from anyone.
In Australia we call it the 'Silly season'.... it's a war-zone out there ...
On the up-side I had the morning off today, went to the dentist, and did a little shopping before heading for work ,the shops were 'dead'...

The girlfriend (a Kim Kardashian clone) told him he shouldn't say sorry because other people need to be patient. That's when I let her have it.
