| | LinkedIn overcharges you if you live in Switzerland
Monthly Premium plan if you are located in Germany: 29 EUR/month
Monthly Premium plan if you are located in Switzerland: 38 CHF=35 EUR/month
It's only 6 EUR/month more, but it's very annoying that they increase the price just because of the myth that "people in Switzerland earn more" (which is not always true). And they apply a 19% VAT, which I think is wrong.
I mean it's just a website, they don't have any additional cost by serving Swiss customers.
Yet another ripoff caused by geolocation...

Linkedin does not have any better job postings like jobs.ch or indeed.
Absolutley not worth the money spent, only plus is to see , who is watching you and the learning tools.
But does not solve the problem, if the economy is bad and companies can wish
whatever they want.

Same for all sorts of goods and services. Have a look on line for the same product from EU or Switzerland- the difference can be much bigger.
I buy from La Redoute France, for that reason, and get delivery to the French Post Office nearby.

I payed the Swiss price of Spotify until they changed the terms. Now I pay a price according to the country of the bank that emitted the credit card. Enjoying 50+% rebate since then | The following 3 users would like to thank Axa for this useful post: | |

I've been 3 times on the free premium trial and there's absolutely nothing worth it. Yes, I can see the "who is watching me" but honestly I don't even believe it's a true list. I'd say it's a socio-technic scam, they leverage on general people tendency of being nosey parkers "oh, well, who's viewed my profile..." . I'm not going to pay any premium until they give me anything useful in return for my money, like what's the salary for the advertised position
Throughout all the years using LinkedIn for job search I didn't see any shortcomings of a standard account. By the way, most of the time I don't apply through 3rd parties, such as LinkedIn, but I try to reach directly. Sometimes the company doesn't have a dedicated careers page, bust most of them do. Of course, when the company is unidentifiable, I don't even apply. | Quote: | | | | | Linkedin does not have any better job postings like jobs.ch or indeed.

Yes and some people get jobs through the connections there. OK tool as long as you do not pay for the extras that do not bring much.

Haha, true. | | | | | Some people enjoy checking how many views their profile managed to score lately and enjoy viewing others profiles in anonymous mode. If you paid extra, you won’t need to show yourself from hidden profile.
Those who view your profile, are usually recruiters who are interested in potential candidate’s skills and will contact you if they have new openings available.
Sometimes, more often lately, you are bothered by Asian manufactures who are trying to build their networks in order to sell their products.

I suppose it's handy to keep around (after all, I'm not paying for the storage of the endless messages from recruiters).
I did have a FANG reach out to me recently to come and interview. (Surely I'm far too old?) I politely declined. The last thing I want is to be humiliated in front of a white board by some over-achieving teenager because I can't remember whether promise problems for probabilistic Turing machines with a probability of 0.5 are in PP or P-SPACE...

I missing out big times, thanks, guys. | | | | | Not really, jobs in geoscience are not sexy, at most copious amounts of alcohol ingestion are possible.
The point is that this info is not available even if paying for linkedin. I see linkedin as a long term project, if you use it when looking for a job.....it's too late for socializing, tip sharing or whatever.

Linkedin is some real social media BS though, I don't know why anyone would pay for it.

It's basically Facebook for the business world, except it thinks it has things that it believes you think are worth paying for due to the business and employment-related nature of it.
I'm not saying it's not useful to anyone... but I can't think of many ways it provides value unless maybe you are a new/small business owner looking to expand your contacts or you just started your own company as a contractor and are looking to maybe find contacts quickly. *shrugs*
