Fun fact and sorry if it‘s been mentioned, didn‘t read all the gory details: In the last millennium, Swiss Hausordnungen not infrequently demanded silence after 10pm. This sometimes explicitly included flushing toilets. If your neighbour is an old lady and if your flat previously belonged to another conservative senior citizen, then she may well believe her request is normal and reasonable. I‘d look up your own specific Hausordnung. Haven‘t seen the toilet paragraph in many years.
Not enforceable - by contract nor in the house rules

Re: Complaint from above neighbor. Please HELP!

Dear guys,

This was my first post and received many answers which I would say many of them are so on point and helpful. Thank you guys so much from the bottom of my heart. I feel so warm and kind which is quite a rare moment in my Swiss life.

I would like to update you that you are totally correct. I have sent an email to the company and they will send someone to fix this thing. They mentioned in the mail that I have for sure nothing wrong here

So far my neighbor, she has a kid, so the noise could annoy him while sleeping. Thus I will no more argue with her anymore, do not want to disturb his growing up, so I prefer to do some peaceful solution not war in this case.

Sorry for my late reply and thanks a lot for all advice. I wish all you guys doing well in this difficult time.

Best regards,

The only thing you could be responsible for is a lot of dust build up in the fan. I don't know the age, type or model of the fan but I suggest that before the visit you check that it is free of a very obvious amount of dust which might affect the operation of the unit. If you moved in recently, the fan should have been cleaned and the filter (if there is one) replaced before you moved in.

As the fan switches on when the light is turned on, best to use a flashlight to see how to remove the fan cover, assuming it can be which is usually the case.

I find the best way to clean these fans is with a vacuum.

If you aren't sure how to clean it, post a picture of it.
