| | Worst Corona excuse
Tried to return old medication to my local pharmacie today....
Was flat out refused According to the employee one can not be careful enough due to Corona She was not suppose to eat it...
Was adviced to take it to the local recycling station, which certainley does not accept medical waste....

Dang, must have been that!
Luckily she didnt call the cops!
No mask plus illegal gathering (more than 5 in the bag) would have made for a nice fine | The following 2 users would like to thank Sigh for this useful post:

I'm not sure of the rules here, but since all Swiss waste is incinerated why can't it be disposed of in the normal rubbish?
It's not like countries which use landfill where they don't want medicines leeching out (particularly antibiotics).

Rant over! | | | | | Even before the pandemic, I was prescribed too much medication and tried to return it in new and unopened condition and was told no.
I am just keeping it now as it doesn't expire and who knows, one day it may come in useful. | This user would like to thank Chuff for this useful post:

They will accept used needles at a Pharmacy at the Coop across the highway from Gland... don't know about pills.

Haven’t tried post covid but my pharmacy (Sun Store) would only accept them if they were out of the boxes with all packaging removed. So obviously still valid medications were not being reused but simply destroyed.
Some things were expired but some had quite a long validity.

They take them at the Sun Store pharmacy here too but without the boxes.
The assistant explained to me once that they can’t be reused because they can’t be sure that the have been stored correctly and there is always a risk (albeit small) that they’ve been tampered with.

I had no problem handing over a bag of unwanted medication at my local pharmacy. I'm surprised that others have had difficulty. I wonder if it was the 'assistant' making rules, rather than the pharmacist - I thought they are obligated to take it back and dispose of it through a special waste system.

I have taken unused unopened boxes of insulin to my Diabetaloge who tells me she can distribute them to patients without the means to pay for them. Not everyone has low franchises, particularly the poor.
I’m thinking I should do more of that, eye drops to my eye Dr. for example. He does tend to oversubscribe. As long as it’s unopened and within the expiry I’d hope he could help me pay it forward.

Juice bottles with wide openings worked well.

The local pharmacy now charges CHF 5 to dispose of old medicines - but on the plus side, they will take anything for disposal, regardless of where the meds originally came from.
Used needles and syringes are accepted if you bring them back in the special container they gave you - deposit CHF 3. But you get a new container in exchange.
Fortunately, most of my no longer needed ( ) meds/needles came from the vet, who happily takes it all back for disposal without any quesiton or charge. Only fair, since he already gets most of my disposable income...

Tried to see my doctor last week as I was not well.
So he does not want to see patients unless you have a negative test!!
This is new🙈
So I did the test(negative) but now I’m better and don’t need to see him anymore..

This is new | | | | | Wow. That is crazy. What next? The doctor only wants to see patients if they can prove they have no medical problems?!
I'd love a job like that.
