Absolutely shocking! You have to stand firm.
My son was labelled a drag queen but we managed to get that adjusted to fashion victim after tough negotiation.

Our son is pretty butch for a queen (no varnish) and disguises this by wearing over length sleeve fine knit woollies while tenderly holding a mug of steaming tea and staring out of the large windows of our log cabin. Thing is, while I have to deal with the fog machine (in- and outside) on a regular basis to ensure the atmospherics are right (no, I’m not complaining), your comment has reminded me of Maroon 5 | The following 2 users would like to thank LtSoftDrink for this useful post: | |

Drama Queen: a person who often has exaggerated or overly emotional reactions to events or situations, attention seeking.
You may find it offensive, but it's actually a pretty good description of many kids that age (including one of mine).
You can be defensive, or you can ask whether a professional carer just may have a reasonable view of how your child is behaving. Bearing in mind the previously mentioned cultural differences, which ultimately you're going to have to deal with anyway.
If the kita person thinks she's a drama queen, then so may the kindergarten teacher etc. Better to deal with it now...

Maybe my Standard German is off, but I'd say (blöde) Schnepfe is a fairly strong insult implying she's easy. That doesn't compare to the German meaning of Drama Queen.

My daughter slept maybe three times in Kita from age 3-5, but she knew to be quiet at sleepy time.
She was allowed to ‘help’ the staff clean up lunch and the play room. Maybe ask of there is some quiet activity she can do instead of sleeping.
And talk to your daughter about letting the other kids sleep.

Reading the OP and the responses.....
It does seem OP, that you have several issues with the Krippe - whether these have been lurking below the surface and the Drama Queen episode forced you to consider those issues too is not clear from your post.
I'm not clear whether the Krippe worker said "Drama Queen" directly to your daughter during the day, whether she said it to you in the presence of your daughter or any other combination thereof. Perhaps the choice of words was not the best to use in front of a child, or as a way of admonishing the child.
In regard to the smoking - there is a Krippe next door to our apartment - the workers there walk to a hundred yards or more away for their fag-break so out of sight of the kids. If the workers are smoking where the children can see, that is not good.
If you have a list of issues, perhaps it would be worth bringing them - in a calm way - to the attention of the Krippe management. Stalking the individual worker on social media is certainly not a way to deal with such issues.
If you really don't like the Krippe - you should look at finding an alternative for your daughter. Every new building project I see has a Krippe being built in the complex - I have a feeling they are far more commonplace now than when we were looking for one when our son was at that age. But, you should also consider that your daughter is 4 1/2, may well already have friends established at the current place, and will presumably be starting compulsory Kindergarten in August - so is it worth disrupting things for the sake of a few months?
Cheers,
Nick

| | Re: Awful people working at Kita | Quote: | | | | | My daughter who is 4 1/2, goes to a Kita in Zürich. Sometimes she acts a bit childish let’s say when they have to sleep after lunch or lie down to rest. Last time when she was being loud in the sleeping area, a girl who works there called her a drama queen. And that she is acting like a baby. | | | | | I'm a bit late to the party here, but in a school or childcare situation, I expect adults to act like adults and children to act like children. The worker was either untrained, unprofessional, or a combination of both. Name-calling and shaming (from adults or children) rarely lead to better long-term behavior in children. What are the qualifications of the workers at the kita? A course in child development and classroom management usually gives at least a basic overview of managing difficult classroom situations. Do they have any training?
That said, have you spoken to your daughter about expectations during "rest-time" in the afternoon? Perhaps with her alone initially, then together with the teacher so everyone has the same expectations? I would also mention your concerns to the supervisor about shaming and calling children names. If it was my school/classroom/facility, I would want to know.

EF crowd has decided "drama queen" is not offensive, it's OK calling a child who is not yours like that, even desirable as a pedagogical method.
So that's it, OP has to conform.
What a nice post, makes worthwhile checking EF once in a while. Thank you, seriously. You made my day.

Kita workers are paid rubbish in Switzerland and are expected to carry a lot of responsibility. The working conditions are not brilliant either. That is why it is mostly young girls. They then leave usually very disillusioned.
I guess many people want cheap childcare. It's a vicious circle.

This too. It has been mentioned before on the thread. However, yeah: many people want cheap childcare. They'd pay rubbish an au-pair and pile on her workload even more - household chores etc.
I don't know if OP is aware.
