Actually no, it's not 'disproportionate' to mandate all-day mask wearing for people dealing with food served to the public, specifically during a pandemic where the restrictions are there to protect the public.

It's damn uncomfortable for whoever has to do it... but disproportionate? I think you misuse the word there or don't fully understand the inplications.

I think it is proportionate to mandate mask wearing during food handling.

But I agree it would be unreasonable to expect someone to wear a mask all day, and then the employer needs to allow breaks and/or rotate staff to mitigate this.

Obviously the handling and working with customers and food is the direct context of what we are talking about and the mandate should be applied at all times throughout the day while doing so.

Of course employees should have some form of breaks during the day where they can then remove the masks to eat and drink or whatever, I don't think we need to specifically spell that kind of common sense stuff out.

Clearly on their break they wouldn't be handling and working with food, and they should be in an area where mask wearing is not required.

Please learn to read context as obviously I was not saying they should be forced to wear a mask during breaks when there is no requirement to do so and I slightly edited my post immediately after submitting it to make it even more clear.

Lets apply some basic common sense to these discussions please.

I understand- I’m at risk myself and very pro-measures and pro-masks. Perhaps my sympathy to OP was completely lost when he made sure to point out that the employees were “non-Swiss”.

I’m honestly just very sick of the divide this whole pandemic has caused - people yelling at people for not wearing masks, people yelling about their “freedom” for being asked to wear one. Adults behaving like children, conspiracy theorists, protests in the streets. I’m just sick of it all - when is it going to end?

The minute you rely on “common sense”, you start on down the same road as Bozo Johnson and the Covid death toll in the UK which is the worst in Europe and currently double the total UK civilian deaths due to enemy activity for the whole of WW2.

My elderly neighbor recently scolded me for not folding my carton recycling properly & meanwhile scolded me for wearing a mask... so, yea.
