you were wrong on the law, you haven't apologized.
actually, where is the law on how to wear a mask and what is the penalty for breaking it? is it really being enforced?

Iím honestly just very sick of the divide this whole pandemic has caused - people yelling at people for not wearing masks, people yelling about their ďfreedomĒ for being asked to wear one. Adults behaving like children, conspiracy theorists, protests in the streets. Iím just sick of it all - when is it going to end?
Amen. I'm sick of the divide too. I've honestly seen the worst of people displayed during this last year or so, not the best.
Informing on shopworkers for noses poking out is an prime example of that, no matter what the law says.
Nobody likes a snitch, and yet we've been encouraged to do just that, and even applauded for it, for 'crimes' of such a minor severity that it's awful.
You're not doing your civic duty, you're dividing, and that makes us all weaker.
Just go somewhere else and leave the nose pokers alone.

Maybe in the U.K. Here it's a national pastime!

It is the pettiness that gets me. Everyone knows that loads of people have had visitors in their house throughout the pandemic, and that this (alongside hospital and children derived infections) are what has driven the pandemic. You just have to walk up the street to see that.

Shops you are only fleetingly in - really not likely to be a big source is it. I would quite happily not wear a mask tbh there, as its evidently pointless (although I would in a hospital or a taxi).

But because we only really see each other in shops we've got to keep up appearances.

You'd get a heart attack if you'd work out at my Basefit gym, where half of the people wear their mask below the nose or even at their chin.

I personally wouldn't go in there unless fully vaccinated!

We aren't obligated to have it on the nose while on a treadmill or eliptical. On lifting machines yes, I think.I still wear it everywhere but see folks having it on their chin on the cardio machines.

I've seen that at my basefit, and generally politely asking someone to cover their nose while walking around is sufficient.

On the cardio machines, I don't think it's a requirement...

From BAG
Quote:
Under the following conditions, which must all be met, you do not have to wear a mask for sports and cultural activities:
If the sport or cultural activity cannot be done with a mask, for example swimming, if it involves too much sweating (cardio training), or if you’re playing a wind instrument.
If contact data are recorded for all participants.
If there is enough space available for each person.
The general rule: 25 square metres must be available for each person, or effective barriers must be in place.
For light sporting activities on the spot (e.g. yoga): 15 square metres must be available for each person.
In indoor swimming pools: an area of 25 square metres of water must be available for each person.
Provided no more than 15 people without masks are in the room.
Provided the room has effective ventilation.

I agree with this completely. Sometimes it seems like it's almost become a religion for some people.

And how watertight is such a law?

At the speed at which it was cobbled together, I'm sure a smart lawyer, if sufficiently provoked, will be able to find some weak points and nail them over those in front of the judge. Potentially creating whole classes of exceptions that thousands of people will be able to use to their advantage.

So it's a bit like in the good old days with Billag. They will make vague threats but be careful not to provide you with real grounds to call their bluff. In other words, in case of sufficient doubt they will back off.

Very astute. That's exactly where we are. Or a cult. Every stage of the 6 (in the link) has been implemented almost to the letter on people over the last year. In the UK at least. They've even admitted the techniques were unethical and went too far and now people are needlessly scared.

It's been both fascinating and sickening to see how easily people will flip.

You could apply those six points to so many things, it sounds like an instruction book for the Swiss naturalisation process!
