| | missing package- delivered yesterday, but nowhere to be found
Hi,
I don't want to be a person to complain all the time, but somehow it just happens that I am unlucky. I just received an email from Swiss post that my package was delivered yesterday. I immediately went downstairs to pick it up as I allowed depositing consignments, but it's nowhere to be found. I had another package to be picked up (pick@home), but it was left in my mailbox. Any suggestions?

Check policy/FAQ of where you ordered. Usually you have to complain with the post unless you bought extra insurance from the shop.

They sent the confirmation of the delivery one day later and not on the same day.

However their GTC doesn't mention notification, so I suspect on a strict legal basis you would struggle to claim anything. https://www.post.ch/-/media/post/agb...=12&sc_lang=en | This user would like to thank newtoswitz for this useful post: | |

I‘ve had stuff delivered to streets with similar sounding names in the area, and have wondered where they are until the recipient has traced me down, and I‘ve picked it up from there myself.
Have also received the tax documents and salary statements from neighbors in my house. The Post delivery guy knows me by name, and spots me if I‘m out and about since a couple of years. He knows that parcels delivered here will be OK. The „missing“ posts are always from DHL etc.
My understanding is, that the liability lies with the sending company - they will have executed the delivery, and are liable for it‘s correct arrival.

The next day notification is strange indeed.
With Swiss Post i normally get the email as the post lady is driving out of the garden.
Pretty similar with other deliveries .. Even a big pallet (garden shed) i ordered recently .. I selected to just leave it on the driveway, no signature.. The guys from Planzer dropped it off with a fork lift truck, took photos of the pallet and i got the delivery confirmation email while they were still here.
Defo worth a a complaint to the delivery company.

And the GTC of the delivery company usually declines pretty much all liability for everything.
This doesn't seem fair, and isn't in line with the way consumer protection for mail order customers in other jurisdictions has moved, but it is so - you end up fairly powerless to find a good route to complain when stuff gets broken in transit or goes missing.
Of course complaining on Facebook, Twitter etc and / or writing to the chairmen of all the companies involved and KTipp etc can be effective regardless of the detail of the contract - fairness is sometimes more relevant than contract terms when public perception matters.

Once delivered, I get a notification that it has been delivered within a minute (at least with the post).

It is extremely strange as i usually receive notification emails immediately. The postman also forgot to pick up my package on the same day (pick@home). I will just go to the post office again to ask who was the person responsible for delivering the parcels that day. I received an email from the company that my package has arrived and I went downstairs one hour later, but it wasn't there while there were other packages from Zalando, etc lying on the floor. The notification from Swiss post was sent one day later. There is even a picture of the item in the system.

Just an FYI:
Because package theft is increasingly common where we live, because neither the Post nor the private delivery companies will deliver to the house door in our Quartier, and because of the liability no-man's land between the sender, delivery company, and receiver, we finally gave up and now send everything Pick Post to our local post office.
Yes, it's a pain to have to make an extra trip, but at least the package actually arrives.
If you are having similar problems, perhaps Pick Post might be a solution.
(Now just keeping my fingers crossed that our little village Post office survives the next round of closures...)

If there's something of bigger value we opt for delivery under signature. If we're not home we get the notice to pick it up from post. It always worked well for us.
We have (had) packages laying in the street for hours/days till someone notices and takes them inside. I noticed people care more about this now, but that's about the only thing that has changed lately.

A small village and yet so much theft...
We lost our closest post office. The local grocery store picked that up and mostly there is no difference, if anything more convenient and personal. Still, it was better with a post office for official stuff.

I feel sorry for the OP and others who have lost packages. Our little city seems to have no problems like that, the only trouble we have is with companies like DHL saying they've delivered, ignoring our complaints by email and phone, then a week later popping up with the message, "Oh, sorry, one of the delivery drivers left it in the back of his van - it'll be there in a few days!".

Showed as delivered and supposedly with signature, but never was. My friend who sent the small dollar package was never able to get an answer from DHL.

They have several times claimed I wasn't at home at times that quite clearly I was, and then sent packages back to sender.
I typically ask senders not to send me stuff by DHL these days.
