Re: Worst summer ever?

Certainly the least sunny summer since I've been here (2009) but I've been quite happy about that. Swiss summers can be pretty unbearably humid. Also I've been working from home most of the summer and when it's raining and grey outside I feel happy enough to be indoors, toiling away. Must be pretty miserable to be a parent of young children or teens though. I imagine you'd all like to be out there doing wholesome activities instead of being cooped up inside.

Re: Worst summer ever?

We were finally able to experience a week of sunny, warm (hot!) summer weather while camping in Ticino (we just arrived home yesterday). I read that it was quite warm here in the Zurich area, too, though. I hope people were able to get out and enjoy it.

It's amazing what a different world Ticino feels like -- at least in the Locarno area, around Lake Maggiore. It does seem to get a lot more sun down there, compared to Zurich, and warmer temps as well.

We took the San Bernadino pass down there, through the Alps, so that we could avoid the Gotthard tunnel. It took just over 3 hours, and the drive through the Alps was absolutely gorgeous. No problems with traffic, either way.

If anyone is ever up for a fun little adventure, I highly recommend visiting the famous bridge / swimming spot on the Verzasca River. We spent a day there, and it was so much fun. There were guys doing aerial acrobats off of the bridge, into the water. The water is bright turquoise and crystal clear, but very cold. So if you do ever go, do it on a hot sunny day when you don't mind being in very cold water.

Here is one of the photos that I took while we were there, though I had to re-size it rather small:

We sure do live in a beautiful country.

Nice that you‘ve made that experience (we Swiss, or living since a few years, just prefer to keep these places quiet). Am sure that you didn‘t discover the best bits

I guess I'm not quite sure how to respond to that or if I even should.

But... no matter. All good.

Re: Worst summer ever?

I LOVE temps this summer (best summer ever!), but it makes me super scared about the global warming. Does anybody feel the same?

Worried about the latter as I have been for a long time but on the former I weigh in with a resounding yes to the thread question - one of the worst summers overall that I can remember here

But it is all relative too, on balance life is great en Suisse compared to most of world...just that I really look forward to a warmer/sunnier summer than we have had

Well global warming is definitely harsh on us. We don't even get the warm part of it.

I only feel bad if I’m not myself trying to reduce my own CF/be eco aware, etc
