Re: Abused for wearing mask on Bus!

Hey!
I'm not giving up today
There's nothing getting in my way
And if you knock knock me over
I will get back up again, oh
If something goes a little wrong
Well you can go ahead and bring it on
'Cause if you knock knock me over, I will get back up again
Whoa oh oh oh oh, get back up again, whoa oh oh oh oh oh (I'm okay)
Whoa oh oh oh oh
And if you knock knock me over, you knock knock me over
I will get back up again

Worldometers says 1,261 deaths per 1M for Switzerland, 1,441 per 1M for Sweden. So Sweden 14% more of a disaster than Switzerland.
14% is well within the margin of accuracy when you take into account how the cause of death is ascertained .

In BLT and BVB at least, they're permitted to, as the driver is separated from the passengers. HTH.

Please, please wear a mask in designated areas. We're role models for our youth and if adults won't wear masks, why should the younger generation do so? Although having said that, there are plenty of youth who understand the risks and will comply.

I wear a mask as I care about protecting others and not passing Covid on - even to those <automoderated>holes who boast about going in supermarkets and flouting the law who do not care for others.

It is called doing the right thing.

So if Covid is going to be endemic (which most experts appear to think it will be) you will wear a mask for ever?

I understand that wearing masks pre vaccine could delay the wave until after the vaccine, thus saving lives. But what is the point now, with herd immunity out the question, and everyone offered the vaccine.

I respect your opinion, and would never abuse someone for wearing a mask, but mine is that masks, post vaccine rollout, are a waste of time. Well almost so, as some holdouts are only getting vaccinated now (but for me that is their fault / problem).

For me you have a very black and white view of something where the science is at best ambiguous on the long term benefits of your actions, and then judge others on a moralistic rather than rationally explained lines.

(n.b. I do wear a mask where it is required by law)

If masks are proven to be ineffective in this or future phases then no doubt the rules will be adjusted. Likely in the future children will not be vaccinated so masks may continue to be needed for such special areas.

My point is more than even if one accepts masks are efficacious then how do they help in the long run without being compulsory in the long run.

Let me see if I can find my crystal ball.

I'm personally more concerned about the next mutation, the side effects of the adjusted booster shots and the possibility that our lives will be dictated by COVID for a very long time.

in other words ...

fear?

I firmly believe that the vast majority of humans are not going to be killed by COVID or suffer and serious complications from COVID.

If you want to get vaxxed or do any other stuff because it makes you feel better, go on. But I don't want my life to be dictated by other people's fear.

(and I don't mean you personally, sorry if that's how it comes across)

Re: Abused for wearing mask on Bus!

NotAllhT, this kind of analogy is wrong. It's same as that other photo some of you love - the one with a scientist in a lab doing research and a bored mum in her wc or kitchen.

It's even very insulting to our intelligence.

You cant compare these two things.

If we respect the law, then a medical act is a medical act, it is regulated a med. act must have a reason and one must understand the consequences, whether good or bad.

In medicine the one I learned long time ago (now since march 2020) they're changing it.. it is a medical doctor who is in charge of suggesting you get vaccinated, advising you and informing you and according to your medical history and situation you will get it or not.

This is why a doctor is not going to suggest a vaccine to a person who already had the particular illness, or you have a mix of pathologies and so on...

We should not confuse medicine with corp.science either.

Doctors were not agreeing once the manufacturers decided to make a trivalent, heptavalent, hexavalent vaccines so yes, it's very complicated and cant be reduced to "seat belts".

Parodying:

99% covid survival rate but hey, live in fear, sheep.
God doesn't want us to wear masks. It's dishonouring to cover your face.
Masks today, vaccine passports tomorrow - we must resist!
Transport companies can't make me wear a mask, it's against my human rights!
You do know that scientists haven't fully proved they work, right?
You know they won't protect you 100% from infection.
...

Seems fairly accurate. But hey, humour is subjective after all.

I don't recall 1 post where you fairly represented the views of "the other side". I recall these mocking, misleading, lying posts, but nothing ever substantive where you acknowledged others putting time and effort into explaining their thoughts clearly and well.

It sticks out here as absurd to post such an image, and yet it's the second time in recent days someone "on your side" is posting this sort of sensationalist rhetoric. Such content reflects really poorly on the poster, like this bizarre pasting of text from a poster, including the following:

"You cannot buy a stick of gum without it being traced back to you,"

What I find a bit odd is the lack of will from anyone "on your side" to ask you both to not post misinformation and sensationalist content like this, as it reduces the discussion to such a primitive level.

You actually got me thinking about that and I had to google it. Apparently, buses in general are designed to withstand much higher impact than cars, hence no need for a seat belt. Didn't know and wouldn't have known if you hadn't asked

now, shall we leave the kids to keep on bickering?

A very good question. Apparently, it's a matter of safety and accesibility. Also, buses are far less likely to be involved in the kind of collision where it would make a difference to be wearing a seatbelt.
