But this never happens now...

The new regime has and will likely again ban those with what they view as dissenting voices.

Olygirl is right: she's been asked to cool her responses and has. Others have not and are still insisting all is now fine. There doesn't seem to be any recognition of the fact that the very behaviours some of you are pleased "no longer happen now" under the "new improved" modship are very much present.

Interesting, thank you. I cannot say really what the situation is and whether or not it has improved as I had no negative experience either with old or new mods. But it is useful to hear some background (biased or not) on what is going on with bans.

You can label me however you want, I know what I stood for and time showed that I and many others with the same view were correct all along!

You weren't mocking a regime, you were laughing at the very real fears of someone. That is callous and bullying behaviour. And no you're doubling down.

A virulent, rapidly spreading dangerous disease was "no reason"?

Hey, no bias in my description of what happened. Think the posts are still there and I took a screen shot of my ban screen. :D

Fine. It was somewhat of a general disclaimer as I really have no first hand knowledge and it won't be long until someone claims that it was totally different.

No, not at all. In fact, you can see the actual comment I made here.

So again, I was against people advocating restrictions on movement so they can go out themselves at the same time :) You can put as many words in my mouth as you want but that won't change what I said back than and what I was against all along

It is far from dangerious for the general population, we've seen that already. Countries that refused to lockdown have had a way better outcome than countries that did a full lock down

This is indeed most likely.

I put no words in your mouth. I put your words in. You said you will mock all day long. Mockery, sustained or otherwise, is akin to bullying.

Believe what you like re lockdowns and I shall do the same. However to say covid 19 is "far from dangerous " is, I feel, problematic. Then I remind myself I'm in different country and shrug.

I don't see anything wrong with mocking the idea of curbing my civil liberties in order for some people to feel safer because of the mass media hysteria.

Rufus, there have been more or less the same number of deaths from traffic accidents every yearcompared to covid deaths in the 50-59 age group. Does that warrant country wide lockdown and should we ban cars as well or limit the time of the day when people can drive cars?

I am not forcing anybody to have a stance on covid and the pandemic. But other people are forcing their fears on me and I refuse that.

In the long run we will see that lockdowns will make way more harm than good.

No-one is forcing their fears on you. Fears were expressed and you ridiculed them.

The fact that you see mockery as acceptable is the issue. I suspect you know that.

In which countries are these numbers equivalent? And there are rules when driving that have to be obeyed. Your hyperbolic comparison is unhelpful. Particularly when the Covid death count would be on top of and not instead of RTA deaths.

I know you are terrified . And you have my sympathy .

But isn’t it a bit over the top to go mad at others for not sharing your fear ?

Fear can be a terrible thing , I know , I’ve been there myself .

Heroism lies in overcoming fear rather than caving in to it .

Other people having fun in places that don’t affect you is not something to be afraid of .

Depends on the fear though….sometimes it‘s rational to heed the fear. And maybe heroism isn‘t the goal….maybe living through something is the goal.

A crisis brings out different things in different people.

Some like to retrench and baton down the hatches and wait for it to blow over.

Others see the opportunity to go out and move into the fast lane and do things they would otherwise be unable to do and come out of the crisis either dead or strengthened.

Others again like to scream and run around in circles because they believe the sky is going to fall on their heads and everybody will be dead by the morning.

Each unto their own. There is no right or wrong. Or if there is, we won't know until it's all over.

But for me it becomes problematic when those living in the extremest fear of all start telling the others they are not fearful enough and not running around and screaming loud enough.

Well the NHS in the UK say you don't need to isolate after being contacted by test & trace after being in contact with someone with covid. Rules changed mid August.

Obviously vaccinated people are much less likely to get the disease and hence much less likely to spread it on. Im confused about what he is meant to have done. Have I missed something
