I liked those mods and I don’t appreciate this kind of posting. I’ve basically accepted the situation that there are far more critical and opposing views on here than before. However, having an empathetic ear goes both ways so please take into consideration that many of us here liked those past posters and find the many accusations hurtful.

The difference is nobody banned them from posting but they banned people with different opinions like myself, TC, CodPeace and many others who never once used foul language or insulted anybody on this forum unlike some members who are still tolerated under new management.

There are far more opposing views on the forum because the Supreme Soviet leadership is gone.

You see, this is the typical leftie position:
empathy is only asked for you expect to gain from it, it's hardly ever provided. Quite the contrary, having the wrong position or opinion makes you fair game for all kinds of attacks, including bullying, smears, silcencing and cancels.

And just in case you haven't noticed:
calling for empathy declares you as a victim, no baddie gets that.

TBF that is limited to one or two choice individuals.

TC was banned and nobody can say he was rude or aggressive, even if he does have controversial opinions. He agreed that the accusation you faced of being the Reddit poster was unfair.

Yet he was banned under the old regime. That was my only complaint - otherwise they seemed to be more or less ok.

I was told to cool it and I did. Now I’m asking you to do the same thing.

I love EF, with all its good and its bad things. They’re inseparable. Like just about any other public space, there are people with all sorts of opinions, on extreme ends of any spectrum.

I think this would be a much better place if we stopped engaging other people with oposing views so frequently and so vigurously. There’s a ton of people whose opinions I can either not stand at all (and I set them on ignore), or I just can’t agree at all. I choose not to participate in those discussions, where I know that nothing good will come out of. A perfect example: I have diametrically opposed opinions to FairDinkum’s regarding COVID. Let and let live…I just don’t join those debates, because we won’t agree on anything…and stirring the pot doesn’t float my boat.

I hope EF can eventually go back to being first and foremost a place for socializing and helping each other, more than what it seems to be at times lately, a place for confrontation and a never-ending cycle of accussations-counteraccussations.

I don't even know who the "old regime" was. I neither feel liberated now nor that there was something wrong before. It feels like there are more nutters here lately than before, but maybe this is just my perception.

What you are doing is trying to control the forum narrative.

This thread and others with the same topic even though they may seem redundant in fact it's a great life lesson.

for example, if a member A is describing the EF to someone outside they will say how "the ex-mods were great, the topics were nicer, the corona talk was better, people got banned for a good reason, comments deleted all the time- for a good reason"

and if a member B is describing the EF to someone outside they will say quite the opposite.

So who to believe ? Both can be right and both can be wrong. It just depends from which angle you look at it, what is the criteria... etc.

In what is happening right now in the world it's exactly like this.

In reality you're trying to position yourself as a victim, by which you shift blame on the others. You may perceive it as "cool down" but it actually is quite aggressive and completely unjustified.
