It all depends what you do with it when it is up. Not much fun if your partner has a headache.

Cheers,

Excuse me the last time i looked this is a complaint corner so that is why i started the thread for help, and advice, i am NOT moaning, and yes 07.00 is late i am with you on that one Dave.
Honey, read my post properly. It is structured. It is a JOKE! ha ha! You and Mrs. HTD do all the organising of house, home and kids and I think getting up at 7:00 twice a week is a lot to ask. I'm presenting myself as a Pascha male - "where are my slippers dear?" - I'm practically BEGGING on my KNEES for DaveA and other roving EuroFighters to come up with something sardonic, sarcastic or whatever.

Can nobody read any more? Do we really have to plaster every-bloody-sentence with smilies? Alan Clark will be revolving in his grave.

You 'ave been in Switzerland too long.

Re: School timetable is terrible don`t know if i am coming or going

Hi Sutter,

Just wanted to express my condlences on your schedule and offer you some support and validation.

The amount of time and the organizational skills required to get a household to run smoothly so that everybody has their laundry, food is bought and on the table (cooked in a way everybody likes ), house cleaned, etc are practically impossible when mom has a full time job as a chauffeur.

I have only one child but last year I had to drive 30 minutes to bring him to school, 30 minutes back home, 30 minutes to drive back to pick him up and 30 minutes to drive back home again - 2 hours out of my day! It drove me insane.

I felt like I was constantly running out of time and chasing myself - it was like "Now what was I doing before I got in the car"? So many things were left in a state of being half done and I felt like I didn't have time to calm down (ok I was also involved in other stuff as well) but I was frazzled a lot of the time which impacted the rest of my family.

So I just wanted to say that I hear ya sista!

Re: School timetable is terrible don`t know if i am coming or going

Yes, I'm afraid it's true, they don't seem to have stand-in teachers. My son was educated here for five years and he was in an out of school like a yoyo. He often used to bounce home mid-morning, saying a teacher was off.
Luckily, I was a stay-at-home mum. But sometimes I was out so I gave him a key. But, I think there are also strict rules about a kid being home alone, so it was always fairly chaotic. Of course our son always came home for lunch, too. Which meant I had to be at home, or organize him to go to another parent's house.
The closer you live to your school the better, and luckily we had a very good bus service which helped.
Personally, I think the system originated when mum's were stay-at-home and hasn't evolved into the modern system, where most mums work. How you would organize it if you are working, I have no idea. I would guess you'd have to have some kind of rota with other parents. That's probably the only way. Good luck!

I do feel for you though. Having a chaotic day does nothing for you. It's kind of like a set of dominos.
I used to say 'say in the library' if my son had lesson after a gap. Can you do that? Do they have a library? You've gotta be kind to yourselves here. You're the manager after all and if you fall, everything else does

typical woman ... probably spends all her day telling her hubby she is a master multi-tasker and then comes here moaning.

Mrs. HTD has it all under control - but then again she is German - One kid in Mittagsbettreuung on Mondays and Thursdays, one kid at friends house Monday Lunch, all kids plus friend from Monday home for lunch on Tuesday, one kid at neighbours house on Thursday at lunch and both kids at home Friday lunch + neighbours kid. Then she works 60%, 40% of which in Zug meaning that Mr.HTD has to get up at 07:00 to get the kids off to school on Mondays and Thursdays.

Can you imagine what it's like getting up at 07:00 in the morning?

Re: School timetable is terrible don`t know if i am coming or going

Hope that you feel better soon, but I totally sympathise with your situation.
I remember having the same with my two youngest and I felt like a prisoner as I was walking one to school then the other, got home for a coffee then out again for one then had to wait for an hour for my son and that was just morning!!
The worst thing was that they had to go to school on every other Saturday so weekends were ruined and don't even get me started about requesting time off when we had to visit the UK. I had to wait for permission from the canton and was informed that if it was refused and I took them out of school there was a possibility that I would be fined. Hope these rules have changed now.

Thanks funny you should mention that as we booked our holidays along time ago, but we could not get a weekend flight, so we ended up having to book monday flights, so my daughter will miss 1 day of school, you would not believe the hassel we had paper work to fill out, phone calls we had to make I mean what do you do if your child is ill

Re: School timetable is terrible don`t know if i am coming or going

wow your so lucky you get a time table. i go to university here, and they dont give a time table until a day or two before the class starts. then you show up on time and at the class room only to find out, they have changed the schedule again.

ive spent more trying to find where and when my classes are then actually being in class. not to mention they refuse to tell you when the new semesters starts and ends, which makes it annoying when your trying to book airplane tickets home...

Btw i can not work because of the timetables, but if you read some of the other posts they have block timetables not crappy ones my daughter as

In the UK they had stand in teachers and i am thinking they have here also stand in teachers don`t they?
The block time tables aren't necessarily any better. My daughter who is 8th grade now, starts school everyday at 7.30 and has lunch from 11.55 to 12:40 except on Friday when she has lunch from 12:40 until 14:20, twice a week she has school until 5 and on Tuesday school is done 15:20.

I am not really sure what is so block about this actually. I can sympathise with anyone who has these issues with schools here.

That is outrageous ! How can one plan a decent session of drinking if the lecturers don't even tell you when the are sober enough to teach ? It all sounds a waste of contiguous valuable drinking time.

That is really awful for you, have you asked why the system is like that, i have never heard of anything so stupid, i mean the idea for you going to university is to learn

Well seeing she is only 7 years old, and my son is 4 years old, i am glad they got timetables

LOL so when you do find your class, you start drinking, so is this the reason why you can`t find the next class

The system is like this because and i quote "this is switzerland, we (dean) have more important things to do then make sure all the classes are according to schedule." - the school is USI in Lugano.

Sutter i have been at university for 2 years now, and i can say i have never purchased one book, or read one. instead professors plagiarize other teachers slides, and read from them in class, and make photo copies of books to pass out to students.

i agree the purpose of university is to learn. i learned you get what you pay for 4000chf for a semester = a half ass swiss school. $40,000 for an american university = a schedule and book.
