Cablecom- Dirty Fraud on Customers

Hi everyone,

I had a very ..very bad experience with Cablecom when I was deceived by a Cablecom Staff inside Interdiscount shop in Stauffacher, Zurich. She told me to give her my information to fill in the form to win a TV set, which is a promotion program from Cablecom for Christmas.

However, it turns out to be a dirty trap because I got the letter the next day to indicate that I already signed in the contract for telephone and Television ( eventhough I told her before that I don't want to use the services), instead of the information form as she said. We had a very clear conversation and there is no misunderstanding at all. It turns out that not only me but also some other people were fooled in this trap.

I guess that it must be the Cablecom seller's idea. If it is the case, she deserves to be kicked out of the company. Anyway, Cablecom's image is really bad to have the seller to trap customers, a dirty game !

Hi,

I am also currently a customer of Cablecom and never receive any letter like that. You should be careful and call the hot line of Cablecom to check. That might be another trap !

I live in Basel and have recieved no such letter. My payments are made into an account based in Zurich. I would check with cablecom before you send the money

Was this thread split or am I totally not getting what you two/three are talking about?

The OP (Rodrose) is going on about signing a contract thinking he has entered a contest and then Hsiang is talking about a letter and change of billing and so on.

 Help!

Re: Cablecom- Dirty Fraud on Customers

I think the thread was derailed by the second cablecom related question and subsequent answers:msnblush:.

Regarding the OP's experience: I fully agree that that is despicable behaviour from the seller. Would it be possible to collect the details from others who were also duped and complain en-masse?

No such letter, here in AG, but then I pay each month at the Post office using the paying in slip, so don't need the account number for internet banking or similar means of payment, thus wouldn't expect such a letter anyway.

Are you sure it was a member of Cablecom staff and not an external company they were using for the promotion? Anyone external will almost certainly be working on commission.

Call cablecom customer service - or better still go to their service desk in their head office on Zollstrasse, close to the HB - and explain the situation clearly as to what happened and how, and you will find that
a) it will be corrected to your benefit, and
b) they will take the case of what happened very seriously and apply the full and proprer internal consequences.

I read about similar situations in the newspapaer recently and cablecom stood by the customer and dealt with the internal issues in a proper manner.

Well, going to Cablecom at Zollstrasse is best. Have you ever tried calling Cablecom?

We have a joke in our 220-staff office. In case someone gets through to Cablecom (besides hosting an apero in sheer delight), there'll be at least 5 others who want the line to be transferred to them.

I haven't had this particular letter, but though i moved out of Zurich 3 months ago (and disconnected the line) , i still get bills to be paid from Cablecom. I've spoken with them at least twice (even taking the name of the staff who assured me this was a mistake & that there would be no more bills), before receiving one the next evening. It's almost Dickensian.

Re: Cablecom- Dirty Fraud on Customers

I moved away from CH in May of last year and am still getting emails from CC saying we owe them money. Every time I ask them to call me to sort this out or to give me a direct line where I can conact them, they just send me another email stating again that I owe them money. Funny thing is, they used to take out all funds via direct debit so we have definitely paid in full. They have recently sent a collection agency after me - Justitia Inkasso - I am getting REALLY fed up. A Swiss friend of mine says this is happening a lot in CH and Cablecom doesn't seem to know what the heck is going on. I'm just scared they'll have me stopped at the border next time I try to come to ZH. Anyone have any advice??

When I moved out of Switzerland the first time, I also got a collection agency coming after me, it was the same one you mentioned - Justitia Inkasso. Although, I just ended up paying the 150 CHF they apparantly wanted from me just to end the whole business entirely.

Did this get resolved? If so, what did you have to do? I seem to have ended in a similar situation where I was lied to, and told explicitly that I was not signing up for anything, and yet I have now a letter saying I have a new subscription to digital phone and TV.

Cablecom - fraud and lies

First, I am not alone, there is a similar complaint at:
http://www.englishforum.ch/complaint...tml#post369567

So, last week I was dashing into the Interdiscount at Zurich HB for a
quick purchase and I was accosted by two cablecom sales partners. They
told me all I had to do was scratch a lottery card to win a prize.
Since I had a few minutes left for my train I indulged them.

I was told I had won, and I'd have to sign some paperwork. Apparently
I was being tricked into signing up for digital phone and tv
subscription in a form available only in German. I learned of this
when I got the paperwork for my subscription in English in my mail
today. In fact, I did get very suspicious at one point and explicitly
asked them if I was signing up for something, and I was reassured that it
was nothing like that, and this was paperwork for me to get my prize.

I feel very stupid and very angry. I didn't expect this in
Switzerland, but apparently shysters exist everywhere. Time I learned
German, and time I started wearing steel toed boots in case I run into
those guys again.

BTW, I am sure Cablecom customer support which is of course
unavailable on weekends is going to be terribly unhelpful and lapse
into German when I call them on Monday.

WOW, that is very low by all accounts. I am surprised that this is allowed, however it seems to be the lack of language skills that seem to have been the death nail here.

This really is not fair by all accounts :msnshock:

Ok guys listen,

I see at least 3 people in this thread plus the other thread"Cablecom - fraud and lies".

For all of you who have been in this lie with the CC sales representative? Could you please share the description of the guy/girl who made you sign this form ?
Is it only happening in one particular Interdiscount branch or in different places?

IF it will come to be that its a single sale's representative who is doing the fraud, then maybe CC has nothing to do with it, and its just his/her idea. Then I'd strongly recommend doing CC a favor and reporting this person asap.

IF its not the above case, then it would be a real shame on CC if they invented this.

Please keep us updated!

Re: Cablecom- Dirty Fraud on Customers

It got resolved in that I finally just got so sick and tired of Cablecom's debt collectors emailing me and sending me nasty letters that I finally just decided to pay the bill! It was ridiculous though because Cablecom was so confused - they kept sending me bills for different amounts. I asked repeatedly to speak to someone on the telephone to discuss the matter but no one would call me back. I just kept getting emails that I owed them money. I spoke to a Swiss friend about it and he said Cablecom are constantly in the papers about these types of situations - so it's not just a problem with expats! Anyway, I live in the UK and didn't want to have this long distance hassle plus I was afraid that I would have problems coming back into CH if I didn't pay it. How does a company continue to operate in this day and age when they are so incompetent?? Shocking...

It looks like they were different branches of Interdiscount, I got fooled at Zurich HB Shopville.

They were a guy and a girl, the guy seemed Eastern European and the girl was Srilankan Tamil. The guy was in a suit, and the girl had a cablecom tshirt. I don't have much more details, but they were hanging out there the whole day, I was in later that day to pick up something else from the Interdiscount on my way back, and they were still around.

Cablecom should know who it was because they had to login to process my "gift" aka "subscription".

Wow, that is so unfair. And this isn't incompetence, it is criminal fraud, in most countries contract fraud is a criminal, not civil offense, and there's jail time involved. I am also going to talk to a lawyer, because that's how pissed off I am.
