OMG - obnoxious SWISS kid!

A little 5-year old pelted me with earth yesterday after I told him to stop yanking out the new trees next to our garden. He then proceeded to play baseball with stones and a large stick and I had to run for my life, the little s%&t. When I yelled at him to stop, he called me a "schwein" (am really not..).

I was flabbergasted; this is in a nice lake-side neighbourhood, he was blond and only 5!! When his mum came to find him, I had a serious word with her and she made him apologize, which he refused, so we stood there for 20 minutes while he cried that he didnt do anything - the little liar - until he finally shook my hand and said sorry.

Am aghast...most little kids I know and even teenagers say "gruezi" when we pass each other in the street.

What a little tyrant!!

Re: OMG - obnoxious SWISS kid!

His vocabulary is shocking for a 5 year old tut tut (though I confess to a guilty giggle at the "schwein" part-sorry- would probably be mortified if my child did that)
Am glad his mum made him apologise though.

Re: OMG - obnoxious SWISS kid!

Bloody hell! You got an apology from the little blighter and the cooperation and sympathy of his mother. He learned his lesson - he's only 5 years old FFS!

If you had said the mother had given you a mouthful and stroked little Johnny's head lovingly while she did it, you might have had an issue, but kids are kids and this one sounds like his mum has got him on the right track.

I'd have done the same as his mother.

I think it was a good thing that the mother made him apologize and he learned his lesson. If I had done it when I was 5 my mother would have slapped me...not in public though

Re: OMG - obnoxious SWISS kid!

Delightful! My 8yr old grand-daughter was late getting home from school one day, eventually she arrived breathless and shouting for help ..... she and her little friend had been grabbed, by boys in her class, outside the school entrance, by their hair and dragged in the opposite direction to our house (a couple steps down the road from school entrance) ........

These five little boys - sorry, dunno what colour their hair was - pushed them in to among some parked cars and then attempted to pull down their leggings and panties. My kid did some karate kicking and got loose to run for help.

Her 13yr old brother went to help her friend, and make sure this was not some "invented drama" - and came home shocked at how those kids were behaving! (making obscene gestures indicating their genitals).

I called her school teacher to our house - he took a statement from her and promised to sort it all out.

Her Dad was furious and wanted to bring in the Polizei ... His reasoning was that in a few years time she will be going to Ski-Lager with these same boys - and they going to be older then - and more dangerous?

Anyway, the school did their Psychology interviews with all the kids and the dust seems to have settled now. But I still have to meet her at the school at lunchtimes and afternoons - just to make sure she is safe, and also monitor all her extra-curricular activities. Something unheard of a few years ago, when village life seemed so serene.

I have observed these 5 boys ... and they all seem to behave in some weird "hyper" manner - like they overdosed on something?

these are the kind of stories we hear regularly in the UK (hence the Britain's going to the dogs comments) but it seems we are not in utopia in Switzerland after all - we just don't get to hear about these incidents from an obsessed media here I suppose.

Horrible story Smoky, hope your grandaughter is OK - I bet she's been put off boys for a LONG time!

omg, the other incident was just a typical obnoxious brat but this one is just terrible and downright awful. Correct me if I am wrong but these boys cant be more than 8 or 9 as well? Jaysus.... other than the psychological interviews, I hope they were dealt with properly, given an extremely stern warning that its just not right to do that, and the teachers are keeping an extra lookout on them.

The reason for my contribution on this thread is ..... that first mentioned little boy is only 5. These were +- 8 yr olds. They had to start learning the behaviour sometime previous to this outright "abduction" ..... not so?

I have witnessed the OP`s type - a neighbor across the road - last year he spat at my kid - a big glob on her hair - her Mother confronted that mother, who then brought that +- 7 yr old to our front door to make him apologise. Same behaviour..... ignoring and refusing to apologise .... for a long while ... his mother nagged ... and eventually, making no eye contact he held out his hand and mumbled. His mother was satisfied. I would have hauled his ass over my knee and paddy-whacked him good and proper! But then, I`m old fashioned about discipline. The modern methods are deemed to be an "improvement".......?

I am a firm believer of the good ole disciplinary methods myself. Such actions of those 8 year old boys would have earned them public caning in front of the whole school back in my day...

*cue anti-physical discipline-supporters*

Re: OMG - obnoxious SWISS kid!

hmm, it seems some of you think obnoxious behaviour from children is just OK?? Might be me who is mad, or wait, I am a mother myself and if I even catch my kids doing something like this, whether 2 or 20, I certainly do not accept that. Wait till some brat pelts you with earth or stones, not so funny then, huh.

My point is that in my experience this kind of behaviour is not what I know kids educated in Switzerland to do to strangers. In my own country, yes, but thats a whole different post..

Re: OMG - obnoxious SWISS kid!

Nobody here said it was OK and the mother of the child did not think so either hence you got an appology and hopefully the kid learned their lesson. Kids will be kids but they should not get away with crossing the line.

I was in an amusement park in Belgium and it so happened that there was a huge group of kids there as well. Whilst waiting in line for a ride, this boy around 6-8 years old (I really cant tell) made an extremely rude gesture to me. I am of Asian heritage and he made the action of slitty eyes at me. Not cool.

I was furious. So I went straight to one of the adults chaperoning the group and told her what happened. She turned out to be the teacher. My objective was not to get my pound of flesh by seeing the kid told off but he needs an adult to explain to him that what he did was just uncalled for and wrong.

So my point to you is, sure, you are angry by the little brat's behaviour but kids need adults to teach them right from wrong. The mother has done her job in my opinion and it has nothing to do with whether the kid is educated or being in a much more civilised country. Obnoxious kids are everywhere.

I am sorry I laughed, not because of what he did to you but the word "schwein" which is really precocious.

I have read a few stories on here about children at school doing completely ott things and the parents not phoning the police or being talked out of it, as a parent if somthing like that happened to my child I would be on the phone to the police in a heartbeat, well once the mrs had stopped me finding the boys to make sure they couldn't do it again.

I can't get my head round why people here seem reluctant to get the authorities invloved in serious matters, yet will phone the police if you take a s**t after dark.

The parents lodged a letter with the school president, a copy to the teacher, that if something like this ever happens again they will lodge complaint with the police directly.

Yes, I too don`t understand this hesitancy - but at least we have given warning of our intentions now.

Something I have not un-earthed yet is whether the parents of these boys were ever informed of their conduct........? My german is not up to any sort of formal discussion with teachers over things like this, so I took the advice of a Swiss friend and eye-ball these particular boys whenever I see them, and have made a point of (mock) photographing them during their insane moments at sports matches when they create wild diversions by jumping on metal storage lockers like rabid monkeys.

Aw, come on! If you can't jump around like a rabid monkey at a sports event, when can you, eh?

(The other incident though... Don't blame you for giving them the hairy eyeball after that.)

Re: OMG - obnoxious SWISS kid!

I had horrible incident when I was driving through South London.
I took a short cut through a rather rough neighbourhood and in a road were 4 boys about 8 or 9 and they had put a toddler on the top of a parked car. He was very distressed and crying. I could not believe it. I imagined what would have happened if he had fallen off on his head.

I stopped and took him off the car and demanded to know where he lived. Amonst verbal abuse one of them showed me the house that the little boy lived in. I knocked at the door and was met by this woman and told her what I had seen. She didn't give a damn
In the room was a slob watching a film which from what I could hear was certainly not family viewing. He called out " Tell that ******* old **** to **** off and mind her own ******* business.

How can some kids know right from wrong when they have such awful people as role models?

Re: OMG - obnoxious SWISS kid!

Hubby and I were walking down Barfuzerplatz and we saw a family with 2 kids a girl aged 10 and a boy aged about 11 or 12. It seems the little girl had been pestering the little boy to which the boy reacted with fury, and I mean fury I could really see rage in his eyes while he started hitting and kicking the girl...it was really scary! The father stopped the boy but really was not bothered by his attitude. A couple of weeks later, I saw a little boy aged around 10 completely bullying his little brother aged around 4 or 5. He was kickig him and pushing him...I felt so powerless so decided to look at the older boy in the eye so he noticed I was looking and he stopped his awful attitude.
Some kids might have some anger issues that really need to be dealt with before they blow out of proportion when these kids turn into teenagers.
