Re: What is up with the mail people?

It's funny because yesterday I received a letter from the Post saying that they want to improve their service during the holidays, including being prompt, friendly, and having good customer service. They also want to continue with this "excellent" service into 2010. I have no complaints with the Post so far... If anything he gets a good laugh at me when I come down 3 flights of stairs in my pajamas to retrieve my package .

the other point is that those chaps mostly are non-swiss. maybe ex-yogoslavia, poland, asia etc. low paid jobs mostly are taken on by foreigners. so they speak bad german if any. the salary is crap, the traffic stresses out, the parking possibilities are horrible, nosey people yelling for blocking sidewalks even for 5mins...and the rise of to be delivered post during xmas... those peeps are only human. and how far is your pbox away?
i dont know any mother apart from you not being able to walk to the postbox while a 2yr old is in his room.
that's a nasty generalization buddy...most post employees here are swiss..and I would not think that a Swiss federal job such as post office would be considered low paid.

no, you got me wrong! i dont want this to be seen as "friggin foreigners do ****** jobs as they cant do any better..." i do respect every work, working woman and man. i dont mind where somebody comes from. that is or wasnt my point! i understood that she, the OP, does not understand german, nor swissgerman. that she felt the UPS bloke sounded rude (not friendly enough), did not do any good delivery service.

i wanted to point out that the UPS staff (at least here in zurich, same was in any german town i lived in) that those drivers are stressed out. timepressure from work (have you read the new limits for swiss federal post postman and woman in CH? i dunno the exact number but it was that the limit settles at 200letters in 1.5min to be put in the right postbox or likewise mismatching time. i dont think UPS has softer limits), parking and all that...on top on xmas... can lead to a bit harsh appearance. plus it could be he did not speak good german or even english. i had it several times, all the time with UPS (FedEx or TNT less than UPS) that a non-swiss with very little german...or at "worst" a mix of eg. spanish-swiss german wanted to communicate with me. "oh nöd, zeit nix gut...chume -spanish for tuesday-..." etc., etc. and i understand that. i dont feel offended as after all i get my delivery... thats what i want...

thats what i found about working as a driver/worker for swiss post (sorry, german)

Similar - 8:30am on a Saturday? We've tried explaining to my outlaws that it's not necessary to send everything here registered, regular mail works just fine! oh well, the kids love getting mail/packages from them.
I can live with 830am. Whilst I understand that they have lots of other parcels to delivery before 7am is really taking the ****

Rant over.

I apologise if this is a little off topic - I seem to get parcels and registered mail delivered at ungodly hours. I once had the postman knock on my door at 630am to deliver a parcel, and another similar incident around 645am. Am I the only one who thinks thats highly abnormal? I am not a late riser - 8ish usually, but surely 6ish for parcel delivery is taking the p!ss?
Uhm, I know what he is doin', he is trying to catch you in some funny night outfit..

I love mornings and all, but to make me think reasonably to receive mail at 6:30am woud kill me
