watch your cellphone invoice carefully... (charged for spam SMS)

I was shocked recently to discover a charge of chf 9.30 on my Orange bill, apparently for two incoming SMS's, charged at chf 4.65 each, from sender 325.

I called Orange, who said it was normal, since I had apparently received a value added service from some NTH AG in Biel. I insisted I did not know this company, had never used any of their so called services and insisted on a refund of the amount, which they agreed to, after embarrassingly admitting that sometimes these service providers were prone to 'mistakes.' She suggested I SMS them back to stop, but I naturally am reluctant to engage them in a conversation - following which they will obviously try to provide me more services.

She gave me their contact numbers... not surprisingly, there is no human at the number. Just a recording that invites you to leave a message (and your cell number)... all their customer service reps are busy ... of course they are

just a heads up to everyone else... watch your bills carefully. and if you dont like something - make noise until its fixed. Refuse to get ripped off.

The ombudsman telecommunication (an official Swiss body) is aware of exactly this problem. On his website (sorry, only in G/F/I), there is plenty of information what you can do against it.
