Re: Finally got caught on the train 80CHF fine

This week I was on a train to Lucerne and a young man in his 30s did not have a valid ticket. He said that he forgot to buy it. The controller told him to buy it in the SBB application and show it later. He didn't fine him. The man carried his laptop open and looked like an executive. Two days later, another girl was on the train, also going to Lucerne, without a ticket. She said she was very stressed that morning and that's why she didn't buy the ticket. Again, the controller allowed her to buy it, pay and no problem. Have the rules changed? Or does it all depend on how the person looks?

I was a regular traveler on the IC5 for a year and saw this several times. One day I just asked the contrôleur why people could get away without fines. He told me they're quite tolerant in Intercity (IC) ones because if you miss one of those you have to wait at least half an hour for the next one. If not, 1 hour. But, being caught without a ticket on a IR, R or S means a fine. Waiting for the next train 5 min later is not a problem.

So, what kind of train?
