Thieves in COOP

Watch out if you are shopping in Sihlcity. I had my camera bag in my cart and I guess when I was paying, they stole it, in a matter of 30 seconds I reckon...Highly upset.

Can someone tell me a few CH websites where a thief might logically try to sell photo stuff...I want to do some investigatory work

try www.ricardo.ch

but I doubt it. They either try to use your stuff themselves, sell it "on the street" or take it abroad, and that can be almost everywhere. And nationality is not the point. A Swiss thieve can take the stuff to Italy or Turkey, an Italian to Turkey or Tunisia or Egypt, etc .

Re: Thieves in COOP

The obvious one that comes to mind is www.ricardo.ch, but it might as well to visit these places in person:-

http://www.fotoganz.ch/framedef_1.cf...vi_id=06010110

http://www.fotobaeren.ch/cms/

and

http://www.kochphoto.ch/standort.html

All of these shops deal with second hand photo equipment. However, as Wolli has already said, the chances are the thief is likely to try and pedal it on the street, or if it's a high value item then it could end up out of the country. Good luck anyway.

Re: Thieves in COOP

thank you gentlemen and happy easter. Tomorrow I shall go back to the COOP and ask the manager if we can look at video, if there is any. As this happened in the Sihlcity mall, I would think there might be a chance there is some surveillance (sp?) there and I know within a fifteen to thirty second window of where and when it happened.

This guy was a real slickster, because my friend was a few meters away, outside the supermarket standing in the mall area, waiting for me. He wasn't necessarily watching closely the very fascinating transaction of me paying and bagging my groceries, but between the two of us, and the shopping cart being not out of sight or in my hand, I still am vexed as to how this guy was able to pull this off. I guess I should be thankful, because sometimes I put my wallet and blackberry and Ipod in that bag, but did not in this instance.

Thank you guys again for your help and concern.

SZ

Did you get the cops involved like we talked about Steve? Did they do anything other than take your statement?

good luck...

The Espirit outlet shop in Dietikon is where my friend had her wallet taken from her bag (on the shopping trolley). The store didn't seem to care. Hopefully Coop will be a bit more abiding.

Interesting Website.. http://www.polizeibericht.ch/

You'd have to think so. HB or Urania itself.

Re: Thieves in COOP

I am sorry that happened to you.

Too many times I have seen ladies in the supermarkets here hanging their bags on or putting it in the trolley whilst they shop and wander off, engrossed with whatever is on the shelves or to grab a carton of milk a couple of metres away. The bag is there, wide open for anyone to dip their hands in there to help themselves to the contents.

I have always felt terribly uncomfortable when I see that, people tend to have a false sense of security here.

Your best bet is to speak to the manager at Coop Sihlcity and see if he/she can help. Good luck.

Re: Thieves in COOP

Is it Swiss thieves who took your camera or gypsies?

I was watching a program on ABC the other day and I was amazed to see that gypsies are a constant problem in many European countries.

They are stealing from people at ATM machines as well....

Re: Thieves in COOP

Shouldn't you be peddling your random racist comments at Cronulla beach with your fellow countrymen?

That's a bit of a stupid comment isn't it. How the hell would he know who took his camera bag if he didn't see it happen.

Oh, and can we stop it with the racist stereotyping as well.

I think you should have watched the program before you accused me of racism.
Also, petty crime is not the same as youth fighting each other because they had nothing better to do. Cronulla is old news by the way.

And since you've brought this up you should know that Australia is a VERY racial tolerant country we are a VERY multinational country and we all live very happily here.

Perhaps we need to work on our image though, because the actions of our previous government made us all look unfriendly to refugees when we are not, their actions were aimed at targeting illegal imigrants.
We take a large number of refugees every year and there is a process people need to follow so those who want to jump the que (by paying someone to take them over on a fishing boat) or criminals who want to come here on false identity are not welcome.

Now that I think about it, yes, it is.
My thinking was influenced by the above TV program.
Cheers
