I've been trynig for 2 years. ETH fail, (On a research project that is coincidentallyrelated to what I'm doing. you need data i gotz it... go figure )job app fail. so yeah break time, but I need to move, at 3 years. I am bored out of my mind with a job that it's pretty much a batch and that everyone seem to rely on with no expected gain on my part.

Sometimes I want to quit, buy a beach chair and sit infront of the office to see what happens.
You will get escorted off the premises for trespassing.

Re: Warning! Off topic Rant in 3...2....1....

my office is on a separate building to the main offices, so If I sit infront of the building, I'm on the street. (in the middle of it actually) Ok so I 'll just put the chair on the sidewalk and watch how it goes.

Quit huh...let me tell you a story. There was this boy once, he was right about 15 years old. He got bullied by everybody at school and because he was somewhat weird didn't really talk to anybody. This one distand relative gave him a worn out basketball...and the boy started to take out his frustration with bball. He was seen on the court day and night...before school in the morning and after school. He even showered and went to bed with his worn out basketball. After a year, he joined the local team...and the coach quickly recognozed the boy's talent and suggested, that he'd display his talent to a highschool coach from Arizona...the boy agreed and went to this basketball camp, where he scored 8 points against NCAA players and other random pros. Unfortunately, there was not one host family available to take in new foreign students..so this plan failed. Somehow, throughout this process, he developed this one dream to become an NBA player and thus one year later enrolled at a University in the States with the hope of initially playing D-1 ball and then venturing off to the NBA. At age 17 standing a mere 5-11 and couldn't have weighed more than 70kg, he went on to the walk-on tryout. Needless to say, he wasn't good enough. During the summer, he attended a Bball camp in NYC, where he got recruited by some college in Canada. He was 19 at the time and the same evening when he stepped off the plane jetlaged..went on straight to practice with the team. Coach was amazed and said that he had never seen anybody handle the ball better...there was also the last year's all Canadian whom he played 1 on 1...the boy beat him 10-7. I tell ya, he was good!!! The day after, he got called to the athletic director's office, where he had to sign the intend to play. As there were only 4 games left in the season, he chose to wait until next season in order not to loose any of the 4 years of eligibility. Next season came and the coach blackballed him...reason being, he's too much of a streetballer. The conescutive season, he got even cut from practice. The boy went on to practice with the ladies team. He even had a practice uniform. After he completed his 2 year diplomas, a semi-pro Canadian Bball league just started up. He would give it a shot and made the team. Unfortunately, the league bankrupted only 2 months after. So, still with the dream in mind, he wanted to play D-1 ball and optain a Bachelor. He transferred to a D-1 school in the States. However, there is this little rule, prevent tranfer students from playing in the first year and he would have to sit out....the consecutive year, would have been his 5th year at an institution of higher learner and thus would disqualify him from playing NCAA ball anyhow. So he figured, that he'd do a study abroad program in Belgium, in order to play ball in Europe and be closer to his family. He started out for a team in the 4th league and on the first game almost damn near slaughtered the oposing team. Other teams wanted him to play for them..but unfortunately, he tore his ligaments (for the 5th time). He had to sit out once again. After 6 months studying abroad, he went to visit a buddy of his in China...and they went to this streetball court, where people played. Within a few days, he got appraoched by a guy who plays for the AND1 team..and they asked him to play for AND1. The boy liked China and agreed to stay. Played two games before he tore his back, scored 34 and 38 points.....and then the season was over. He will be 30 this year...and there is not one day, when he doesn't think of Bball. Realistically, there isn't a slight chance for him to be playing anywhere anymore...but it's still there in his heart.......what I'm trying to say with my long drivel. To achieve great things, takes great effort. You may fail over and over and over again...but you live to fight another day. I always say, mediocrisy is not an option it's a choice....and it's up to you to decide which path to take.

(ps: I apologize for any typos...was in a rush )

Why not try other universities around Switzerland? Is ETH the only one you've applied to?

At least the schools didnt reject you due to your age.

Hmm, I suppose you could be bribed with solid Czech cooking into retrofitting some tube equipment to solid state. You could be handy to have around.

I dunno man, I mean.. I don't want to be the subject of some weird Pavlov's experiment by former soviet scientists....

On the other hand.. retrofitting sounds fun...

So Seņor Ouch.. have you gotten used to your new age ?

.. this thread cracks this ol' lady up (and most probably other ol'folk) .. what will you say when you're in your 40s huh ?

I feel younger in my early 40s than I did when I was 30.
You'll feel younger every year..

I did not mean you are old in the sense of "you are too old for this earth and slowing the pack". But too old to do the irresponsible things in life.
Haha, you tried to fix it and made it worse.

Remember, you can't always stay young, but you can always act immature!

I've yet to find:

-Why people think Mexico is in South America.
It's probably for the same reason people think "North America" stops at the U.S. border.

Anyway, best of luck in Switzerland, although I don't think you need it. Sounds like you are well on the way to making a successful new life!
