On the other hand, if he's already here, and I guess he is, he could change his Profile and make one pernickety Mod happy.

2 weeks later, she ain't sleeping any better
You guys have any advice for sleeping in this heat? Should I go to the doctor's and ask for sleeping pills? It's really starting to be a problem.

I half close the blinds during the day, and pull down the shades.
When I get home at 6 pm, I splash the balcony concrete with cold water , till its not sizzling-evaporating anymore. Then I open the door, and the water cools any air coming in.
I sprinkle around a lot of cold water on all the rugs in the house , a few times till bedtime.
I've got 2 table fans , one on either side of the bed, put them on full speed. When its too hot, I keep a shallow bowl of ice in front of the fans, seems to help.
I've been sleeping a lot better with all this.

I'm loving this, so hot, sweating here on front of the PC (and in bed too!), yet enjoying every moment.
I must be a little mad
Oh well, time to go out for a little beer tonight to cool meself down a bit!

Set it up facing your bed. Fill a garden sprayer with water and, whilst naked on the bed, spray the water up in the air towards the fan. The fan will blow cool water drops over you and cool you down and you will sleep easily.
Be sure to send me a photo so I'm sure you're doing it right.

I think Pickles is Bang on with the advice before...... there is just one more thing I might suggest to add to that.
Keep a wet towel beside the bed.
The fan blowing over ice does help a lot, and the same principle applies with the wet towel.
If you just can't sleep, wipe the towel over you and you will cool down instantly with the breeze from the fan (evaporative cooling).
I'm a Queensland kid who grew up without Air condy, and the fan blowing over a bowl of water (obviously right at you), armed with a wet towel beside the bed were my weapons of choice against night time heat.
Oh.... and drink more water.
Dehydration makes heat feel worse than it is.

I guess I'm lucky as we don;t suffer so much at night in my flat in Bern. My kids are still sleeping very well even though the little one drinks a bit more.. and I am still sleeping with my duvet on! I hope it will be such as lovely and hot in the South of France next week.. so much better than snow and cold. I have not missed South east asia so much these days |

It's every man or womans right to complain about the weather. It certainly beats moaning about how boring the Swiss are, how crap the police are, or whatever other mind-numbing things people moan about around here. Discussing weather is objective, innofensive, and for some people, heat like this really IS hell. While the days can be fun, nights are horribly hot and humid, which directly affects my sleep, and thus my mood and sharpness at work the next morning.
In fact, i'd say the weather is the only thing that has any real substance to moan about, long may it continue.
