At least by sometime later this month it starts to be a bit more of a sunny summer if I remember right - and everything is surreally green after the weeks of moisture.

Try living in Scotland for a year and this will be heaven.

What really annoys me is when I ring my family during the day and my Mum takes ages to answer the phone because ... she's sunbathing in the garden (as it's 24 degrees), and my partner is drinking iced frapuccinos to try and cool down.

A couple of weeks after we moved here (it was mid-May) we had a hot spell and were cursing the apartment for not having a/c. Two weeks after that we realised it was not so necessary! The next year again it would have been nice - for about 10 days.

I don't know what you are all going on about, i think the weather has been lovely. But then, I have been corrupted by the 40 years I spent living on a windswept, rainwashed rock on the far edge of Europe.

I thought this was normal weather for this time of year. It don't remember it being much different last year, or the year before that, or the year before that even.

Summer IME tends to arrive at the end of July where we have a couple of weeks of stupidly uncomfortable scorching weather. If past experiences ring true this, and the entire summer will be brought to a close with a massive thunderstorm mid August, and we'll be back to rainy grey again.

At least we don't have droughts here
