Re: People chucking their rubbish in non Züri-Sacks!

The entire premise of recycling is known to be rather suspect. I support aiming to reduce one's consumption where it is clearly wasteful but I'm seriously sceptical of the benefits, if any, of Zurich city's forced recycle dogma. Are there reliable published figures on the true costs and revenue of the whole program ?

I don't follow the local village politics here in ZH. Are the Green loons entrusted with power over normal people in the kanton ?

I don't care if it's suspect or not! You think I like buying CHF30 rubbish bags If you don't like the rule then move out of the region or get enough signatures to get a referendum passed changing the rule.

On the other hand if someone continues to use non legal bags then basically they are scroungers and being disrespectful towards other law abiding residents!

But the Principality of Neuenburg-Neuchâtel used to be a Prussian land for quite some time. This possibly has its influence still

Waste disposal systems in accordance with the relevant Cantonal law are a matter of the communes. So that some sell their own rubbish-bags, some just sell stickers to be used with standard bags. As the housemaster in Adliswil told me, to buy Zürisäcke in the City and dispose the rubbish that way in the City in fact is cheaper than the Adliswil system !

In Glattbrugg (Opfikon) the system looks like that (official text) :

Garbage collection

Volume principle (taxed garbage bags)
Except for the GlattBach development (Glattpark subdivision), only official taxed bags can be used for household garbage collection: they are black with a purple sunshine logo and marked with “IGKSG Zürcher Unterland”. They can be obtained from the cashier in most grocery stores. The special stickers for bulky items cannot be used for garbage bags. Household garbage collection is on Thursdays .

Weight principle (magnetic charge cards for the GlattBach development)
Household garbage for the GlattBach development, Earhart-Strasse, 8152 Glattpark (Opfikon) is disposed of in the press container by using a magnetic charge card. The garbage that is thrown in is precisely weighed and immediately debited from the card (which is why taxed garbage bags do not need to be used). The magnetic charge cards are issued by the landlord and can be loaded with credit at the machine next to the container. If lost, the card can be replaced at a cost of CHF 20.- at the Opfikon city hall. Credit on lost cards cannot be refunded
.................................................. ...................................

and is combined with many other towns and villages in the "Zürcher Unterland"

When I chuck my strid bag out I make sure that I am seen as having the right one especially by some of the really nosy neighbours and always take a long time to walk to the bins, chatting to anyone!!!
The other week I ran out and could not get into town to buy 10 more so I used a black one. I was so paranoid that I took it in the car with me to the UK so I could put it in a bin in France

Just to let you knwo the dangers, I was travelling with my wife and two children with couple of small rubbish bags which we have accumulated during our Ski trip, we were stopped and fined EUR 250/- by French customs. We were in a GB car and they said we are importing rubbish into their country..
