| | SwissPost Track and Trace-Forget It!
I sent a registered letter to England last Thursday and was told it should take 2-4 working days and that I could track its progress using Track and Trace on the SwissPost website. So I paid the extra CHF6. Sounds good so far, not too much for peace of mind. Now here we are, eight days later and the computer is still saying it's 13.46 on Sunday 18th July 2010 and the letter is at the entry of the destination country! I know now that the letter has been delivered, albeit at least one day late. I sent an email to SwissPost yesterday and all I have so far is an automated response saying they received it. Rubbish!

All tracking capabilities, in the UK and CH cease at the exit border. The tracking systems in each country are not integrated.
Your last update on the Swiss web site reflects the last thing to happen to it when it was in Swiss hands.

Are you sure you did not use the extra service "Einschreiben/Enregistré" = registered mail? Can't seem to find a service with extra track & trace.. plus this is not available to "normal" mail as far as I am aware... (might be corrected, I guess). Only courierservices have that feature...
Registered mail would only force the consignee to sign for the receipt, no special tracking tools...

Well, in this case the tracking capabilities got as far as the entry border, then ceased....why wouldn't the lovely lady in the post office tell me? She'd already explained to me that this was my best option in perfect English, so no language problems. It was normal registered mail (I think), but whatever it was the lady pointed out the consignment number on the receipt and told me that's what I needed to use to track the letter on the site, which is how I know it got to the UK border. Thanks for the input though!
(BTW the next best option cost CHF56!!)
