3 plug Electrical Wall Sockets are useless

I am really at a loss to understand why there seems to be no solution, other than a ton of power bars, to hold all the electronic equipment that does not have a simple plug on it. For example, my mobile phone charger, if I plug it into one of those sockets for three plug wall sockets, I can't put anything else in that socket. I have lost count of how many power bars we have.

Even in newer houses, I haven't seen an improvement over what I have. It seems to me that to avoid power bars one needs just a ton of single wall sockets.

Just wondering if anyone else finds this really annoying.

Old design: way ahead of all the transformers and chargers that we use now. For simple plugs it is a remarkably efficient and elegant design

you'd think they could build the charger bricks at least facing the other way so that 3 can still be plugged in...

You are quite right. I recently bought a power strip that has the plug things rotated 90 degrees so you can plug devices with bulky endings across rather than down the strip. That does help. We have a lot of power strips too, especially in our study and where the TV/cable box/stereo is located. The wall receptacles are useless, except to plug in the power strip.

You are not alone, I too hate these power bricks, especially as you can't install a switch on the cable, so either have to use a switched power strip, or unplig the thing.

There are some powerstrips that plug directly into the socket with no cable.

I recently installed these in my kitchen:
