To the OP,

I, Sir, resemble that remark!

I got one some months ago, and love the bugger, travel time from apartment to train station + train station to workplace is now 75% lower.

That said, i don't use it on days I don full business attire, or on romantic evenings out with the missus (though I have debated it).

Just cause some Pillock was riding it in a populated pedestrian area, don't vent out on the rest of us poor souls who can ill afford a Cayenne

Accept the groan like a man
I would groan you back, but I'm supposed to set an example
Anyway, have you got insurance for that thing and where's your vignette? <grumble grumble>

No offense, but isn't "walking" cooler ?
Not when it takes longer and a cheap easy quick way (avoiding Castro and any grapes) is available.

My priorities for time are: home - office - commute.

If I can cut down the commute quickly and easily, but don't want a bike, the scooter is an option (minus suit of course).

I have one of these:

I don't have a bike and I it useful to get from A to B when I don't have much time (e.g. to play tennis over lunch).

When I wrote my car off last year, it was great for cutting down the commute time.

As for being too lazy - over distances, it can be quite strenuous, more so than a bike over similar distances, I would wager...

This definitely doesn't surprise me. Are you by any chance related to Kevlegs?

Re: Grown men on micro-scooters

The only time when it is acceptable for someone who physically resembles an adult to ride one of these is on the Trottenegs in the mountains. Where you are going downhill on bigger versions - usually whose brakes are woefully inadequate

The brakes ARE useless on these buggers, but going downhill is the most fun you can have on them. The missus crashed into a wall at a pedestrian tunnel some weeks ago, much laughter followed (me mostly).

Still, the only way to look like an even bigger buffoon on these things is to wear a helmet and accompanying elbow/knee guards. It's a Catch 22 situation I tells ya

Can't see a problem with this. It always makes me laugh when I see a suited business man or woman on one of these.

Anything that makes me laugh can't be wrong.

lol - I made a similar comment recently to which my German friend took offense saying they are perfectly fine for adults and that I should try it. To me though, they are a child's toy. I'll keep to my bike. And try to avoid running EF members over.
I don't ride one myself but can see the advantages. You can take them in many places you can't take bikes and then easily fold them and carry them around in places where you can't ride them.

Similar to cycling though, riders have to be resposnible and respectful of others. I see that not all those who use them understand that.

With you there.

I have been to Engelberg many times in the summer, if only to ride on the bigger versions from Gerschnialp down to the village.

Twisted trail...beautiful scenery...the speed...

I tell you..."fun" does not do justice to the feeling.

Here is the link if you are interested.
Also shown is the "devil" and "monster" bike.
Itching to try those...but too afraid lest I might break me bones.

Nevermind the brakes - what about the under inlated tyres, wonky handle bars and cars coming up the hill?

No. There is no Catch 22 - you just have to man-up and go without the "protective" equipment...

Oh Castro, dont let those crushed grapes go sour

What someone does says/ says more about the person talking than the person receiving anyway.

But back on topic - growing up is a state of mind.
If you're having fun, and you are still physically able, then live life to the fullest

That "man" should maybe stop taking those hormones

or is it that:
the man who says it cant be done, shouldn't interrupt the woman doing it
