Musicals or Plays in English

Hi everyone,

I have never been to the theatre in Zurich and wanted to know, does anyone know of plays or musicals in English? Has anyone been to the Opera to see Ballet or any other show? I love Broadway and have been to the theatre in London too and I feel like I haven't even considered it here before.
Anyone knows where I can find this info?
Thanks!!

Try Ticketcorner.ch (unfortunately you can't search by language).

Touring Musicals are usually English.

Re: Musicals or Plays in English

I second the Theatre 11 recommendation. Seen a few things there now, but Mary Poppins was really incredible. They have Wicked coming in English later this year too.

Re: Musicals or Plays in English

Love the Opernhaus and most of its productions. And its Corps de Ballet. All operas are subtitled. Ballets not :-)

A funny thing happened to me when I saw a great choreography to Romeo and Juliet. I realized in the interval that I had heard dialogues between the dancers.Only in my mind, I realized. Their dancing was so intense that I translated it into words... pure magic.

In Geneva;

Yes, I realise the question was about Zürich, but searchers may be interested. Also Geneva isn't that far from Zürich, many come for GAOS' Christmas pantomime.

You could also try ntlive.nationaltheatre.org.uk Go to what's on near me and plug in Switzerland. There are 4 venues here for live or recorded screening of various English speaking productions. It includes broadway plays/musicals/ballet. Not so much choice for the Zürich location unfortunately, there's more screenings from The NT in Luzern, verkehrshaus

Re: Musicals or Plays in English

In Geneva - and I'd be surprised if not in Zurich - we find some French productions have begun to have one or more performances with English surtitles.

You can aslo try to check at the embassies or consulates of anglophone countries, where they normally advertise cultural events in english language.
