Any Prog Rock fans ?

Greetings,

Any prog rock fans here ? Would be happy to go to gigs in Z7 Pratteln (Basel - can drive if needed) worst case, but obviously prefer local here in Zürich.

Anathema, Threshold, Marillion, Fish, Pendragon, The Windmill, Cosmograf, Koyo, Lonely Robot, Rush, Moon Safari, Riverside, Pink Floyd/Roger Waters as reference points...

Haven't been to much recently - really missing it :-(

Re: Any Prog Rock fans ?

With ya PitBull. Spent many hours at Z7, Dynamo, XTra, Volkshaus, 622, Kaufleuten, Schuur, Kopfmehl and many other venues in CH, D und A.
Though, due to traveling, I don’t get to that many concerts anymore. Between 2013 and 2018, we did over 330 interviews - almost all from rock and metal genres. A few of these also from prog-rock/metal groups and artists.
My favorite was Devin Townsend Project. Spoke with him twice and saw him three times on stage.
Though the website is no longer working 100%, you can find most of the interviews and concert highlights on Musig Pub TV. The last few shows were released on our Facebook page.
Enjoy your shows, hope you find someone to share the experiences with you. Let us know which shows you plan to see ... if possible, I may join you.

Re: Any Prog Rock fans ?

Hey, I was at Steven Wilson show last year in Zürich Volkhaus.

Next march 16 there's Anathema in Zürich. https://www.x-tra.ch/en/agenda/conce...athema-gb.html

Next march 27 there's Coogans Bluff at Coq d'Or in Olten (kraut, psych) https://www.coogansbluff.de/audio

Next summer there's All Them Witches also on Zürich.

I'm getting soon the ticket for Anathema. For sure I go to Coogans Bluff in Olten. Still not sure about the plans for the summer, so going to All Them Witches gig is uncertain for the moment. WOuld be great to share a concert and some beers.

Alt rock/psychedelic rock fan here

do you know any places with jam sessions and/or alternative music? I'm a drummer and soon will be moving to Zurich (without my drums for obvious reasons - they are quite hard to take on a plane).

Re: Any Prog Rock fans ?

Right now, Dude, things are fairly tight when it comes to groups of people ... but that should not be new to you.

Most communities have smaller clubs where locals meet up for jam sessions. Though I am not sure about ZH ... here in Rheintal (between St. Gallen and Sargans) there are a couple small clubs, with a small stage, that organize jam sessions every couple of months. Have read about them in other parts of the country as well.

Most of the equipment and drums are supplied, as the change-overs should be timely.

My tipp, hit up a local club or concert hall when you arrive. Ask there, they should be able to set you with the right contacts in the branch. All of whom will speak English 😉

Thanks, Scott.

yeah, I know that things are quite tight with groups of people, although in Gdansk, where I live, we have some jam sessions thanks for the hint with local pubs. I will probably have to spend the first month exploring the city and learning for the new job anyway

Re: Any Prog Rock fans ?

Another prog fan here. But not expecting to see any shows any time soon. Just this week I got an e-mail from Ticketmaster, saying that the Genesis show that I got tickets for (December 8, in Manchester) was postponed until April 2021.
