Just a quick line to point out the brilliance of Nik Bärtsch & Ronin's Monday nights at the Exil (next to Schiffbau). For many years now, this band has been doing a weekly public rehearsal - sort of - at Exil which they co-own. Next Monday, 26 March, will be number 695. I try to go every time I'm in Zurich. Ronin - piano, sax, drums, percussion, bass - play an intense, minimalist, modular instrumental music, somewhere in style between post-rock, jazz and new music. I'm pretty sure I'll be there next Monday. If anyone wants to say hello - I'm the chap with the beard.

Another regular and rather lovely event - every last Sunday in the month at Meyer's Bar just by Lochergut tram stop (2 + 4): Ines (vox) and Ralph (vox, keyb.) with Musu (vox, co-owner of the bar) sing classic French and Swiss chansons from the 30s to the 60s. It's my "local" in Zurich, a charming little bar with great music from the "jukebox" - and open until 4am. WARNING: as it happens, April's performance is not on the last Sunday, but the second last...
