Give the guy a break, help him with answers to his questions or skip to another thread, don't call him a liar by questioning whether he has or not a swiss passport (if he does not, then all the info is useless for him and his trip is going to be quite useless).

Me, for one, don't take it as a troll or liar. Been very respectful in his answers when I feelmsome have not been to him...

I agree, this is comical that so many people have offered help but you remain ever mysterious. I cant imagine that you would expect to come on an open forum and not open up. Many questions have been asked, but no answers provided.

You are obviously reading the replies. I would think after all of the outpouring of support and great advice you would at least provide a bit more background.

This is starting to feel like a very bad twin peaks storyline.
If you have any specific questions about my background then please ask. I have read all the responses. I don't see any real clear solicitation for further context. I'll re-read the thread to see if I missed some less obvious request for elaboration on my background that isn't rhetorical.

Perhaps I'm being distracted by the many comments questioning the validity of my passport, citing naturalization law, when that's obviously not how i came to be in possession of it, and the general (but understandable) disdain for my existence.

A lot of posters have given some good, helpful advice, which I appreciate. A lot of posters have told me things I already know, things that no reasonable person investigating this move would have missed. I don't mind that at all, since it's probably fair to assume that someone in my situation isn't reasonable. I don't mean to discourage commentary that might be redundant. I know it's coming from a spirit of kindness and, again, much of it is _is_ helpful.

What I am wondering is, if you only have 150 CHf to your name, who is keeping you in the US? If you are being kept, you are in a better position than you would be in CH, so consider staying where you are.
I said I would be arriving with chf 150, not that it's all I have, with the implication that i am "being kept." I've considered staying in the US for the last 10 years.

Also, ironic for those earlier posters, but i'm actually in Alaska right now, and it was minus 22F a few days ago. According to the always veracious interweb, the low for Zurich today is 17C. I'd be busting out my swimming trunks.

Anyway, which part of Alaska are you in? I've heard lovely things about Alaska.

Oops, it's 17F. Was a euro site I checked and automatically assumed it would be using C. Well that's kind of cold. Shorts are out.

'Basic principlesAbroad, Swiss citizenship is not automatically transferred from one generation to the next. As a result, the fact that you have a Swiss great-grandfather does not mean that you will able to obtain the red passport with a white cross. '

Loss of citizenshipIn fact, Swiss who are born abroad lose their citizenship once they are over the age of 22 if they have another nationality and if they have not indicated that they wish to maintain their Swiss citizenship.
If no notification has been given before this age, Swiss citizenship is lost and descendants will not be able claim it.If you wish to maintain your Swiss citizenship, you must submit a specific request to Swiss authorities before the age of 22.'
(source: isyours.com/e/immigration/citizenship/swiss_ancestors.html)

This specific request is then handled under the civil code, as been posted previously.

Seriously, stop trying to fool people here.

The reason why I am getting at you, as you are obviously having a laugh on the costs of some kind posters on EF who spend their time helping you and giving you adivce.

TROLL TRAP

Earlier, at 9 AM Zurich time, you posted it was 2 AM your time (7 hours difference). If you were in Alaska, it would have been 23h the previous night. So how can it be 9AM in Zurich, and 2 AM your time if you are in Alaska???

In nearby La Brévine, it was -30 the other day- no wonder the area is called 'Little Siberia'. Not a good time to risk being on the street. Bonne chance.

I was embarrased about my previous typo (meant instead of mean) and exaggerated the hour. Does that seem plausible to anyone?

Anyway, the important details are the truth. It's not a troll. I almost wish it was at this point.
