Hi Artan, I am not an owner and not near Geneva (fly out of LSZH), but wanted to say hi.

I have a US commercial license with instrument rating and a converted JAR PPL.

Zurich's flying club has a nice N-registered Columbia 400 oops Cessna 400 for rent.

http://www.mfgz.ch/club/flotte/466m.html

I will let you know when I make my way over to Geneva.

Greetings,

Markus

So is there a decent Swiss flying instructor out there who can help me to explore this great country from the air, and to stop my skills from getting even rustier?

Ideally someone based at the aerodrome in Lausanne who speaks decent English (or v-e-r-y s-l-o-w f-r-e-n-c-h...)
I have finally flown into Lausanne a few weekends ago. Nice aerodrome. Unicom speaks English.

I would definitely talk to the flying club there if you haven't done so.

Not only that, but starting next year a proficiency test will be introduced.
(1) FAA announced they will issue new pilot certificates upon request that will confirm English level 4 ICAO proficiency. That should help the Swissies calm their fears / skip the test.

(2) BAZL also sent me a new Swiss license (free of charge - OMG) that confirms level 4 skills, so I will only need to take a test for my next renewal, which I hope to skip because of (1).

Any Pilots in Geneva or Laussane

It's amazing how many N-Reg aircrafts i see in Geneva and and it is impossible to meet someone that does fly them and be able to go flying with them.
I am a PPL FAA and getting my CPL, IR, ATPL, MULTI MCC, at the moment but i am in the stage when i am studing for my exmas and i have not been flying much but i am looking to find a friend that i can fly with... I have about 300 Hr total and a lot of good expirience and looking to get more hours.

So if you know a Club or someone or something that fly N-Reg please let me know i live in Geneva even if it is H-Reg it is no problem as long as i can fly be able to get back to flying again. It has been 5 months i have not flown.

I would Apprichiate if someone can help me.

There are also a number of Warriors, one Dakota and one Saratoga in the fleet. They are in the process of being exchanged against DA-40 es.

They also have an arrangement with Twinair for multi engine time.

Re: Any pilots out there / in here?

Of course i know about that place i have been there many times but they give a phone number to call of course everytime i call always no answer and i have left many messages and never got a call back.
If i knew someone that does fly there it would be so much easier beacuse they can direct me to the right person and tell me a bit about the club...

Yes, Igor is sometimes a handful to deal with... why don't you call Antoine Fatio who is the president, and I'm sure he's either going to be able to take care of you himself or put you in touch with the chief pilot, whichever...

The contacts are on the "Contacts" page of the website (oddly enough).

Flying in Geneva

Hello to Pilots.

I live in Geneva and I am looking forward to meeting new Pilot friends. I have been in Geneva for 3 years and I never got a chance to meet someone that has a PPL, IR or CPL, or may be working on his or her ATPL exams.

At the moment I am working towards my exams in ATPL and I am looking forward to see if I can find friends that may be I can go flying with or study together.

Is there such a place in Geneva that Pilots that are in school study together and they have a special place where they meet? I would love to find some clubs like this.

I have a PPL FAA and getting all my ratings now from IR to Frozen ATPL.

If you know something like this please reply to this add and let me know if there is such a place in Geneva or Lausanne.

Thanks to all Pilots…

Take a look over at www.corpjetchat.com. A forum aimed to bring together the diverse disciplines within the corporate aviation , both fixed and rotary wing.

I have flown into and out of Birrfeld during my transition training, nice little airport, pretty busy on the weekends, decent restaurant on field, can't say much about the flying club there.
Try the Rösti and Bratwurst, very good stuff.

I first flew in a plane when I was just out of the hospital after being born. My father has had his PPL for almost forty years, he learned to fly before he learned to drive, going to his lessons in Cointrin on a velosolex. True story.

There are several aeroclubs in Birrfeld and there seems to be quite a bit going on. They are a very mixed bunch, some old, some young, quite a few women too, one of which is an instructor. The activities include outings to certain airports, regular meetings, an annual "Airport Cleanup" etc. There are also competitions at the airport, such as "who can land closest to the line" type things (can't remember the technical term) and you will find some oldtimers in the hangars.

There is also an airport mascot called Bomber, an orange cat that wanders around the ground. He took over from Kasimir, a stray that had turned up and lived in the "tower" when it was still just a wooden shack. Those were the days. Ok, that's not very relevant but I like cats so I wanted to mention it.

All in all, I really like Birrfeld, it's a shame it's a bit far out from stuff but if you have a car, definitely a good bet. Doing your PPL there is also much less expensive than in Zurich and the uncrowded airspace makes for more opportunities to take off and land.
