Re: Christmas in Switzerland..

I love christmas in switzerland. I am also from the UK, and have only spent last christmas here, BUT yes, there are a few christmas markets around....You have to try Gluwein, Raclette and Fondue if you havn't already.

Christmas here is celebrated on the 24th (correct me if I'm wrong on this everyone!) and they don't have father christmas, they have Sammi Claus, and Schmutzli (who, throws kids into his bag and drags them off to the forest if they havn't been good Little one I look after is terrified on him lol). The 6th of December is a special day for children here, as that's when sammi claus comes to visit your house to check with parents if kids have been good or not. :P

I love christmas....the snow, the decorations, it's like the christmas that you never had in the UK I personally think! :P Zurich HB has a huuuuge Swarovski christmas tree, which is great. Um....can't think of much else, but I love it! I'm sure someone else will add to the thread (probably telling me everything i have said is wrong lol).

Re: How to spend the first Christmas in Switzerland?

There are several Threads on the subject already on EF. I've merged your question with one of them.
EF Google Switzerland+Christmas to find the rest.
