I love how we are still comparing the "USA" (307.0m ppl: 9,000,000km2) with Switzerland (7.7m ppl, 41,000km2). Sorry. It's ridiculous.

What part of, "I look forward to returning and becoming active in US politics again" do you not understand? Forgive me for being blunt, but you really need to think a bit before you post...

You are accusing everyone of lies, I was naturally conceived from the sturdy mountain climbing loins of a Swiss, survivalist turned father, in tune with nature except for his Swiss gadgets. How come you think that we are all lying, claiming that we upset because we are not getting laid?

If you are having problems the correct spelling is ad nauseum so an abbreviation might be Ad.n?

Mine was a genuine late night typo that occurred while copying your insipid post. Whereas yours, was clearly the lack of knowing the language. As simple as that....and guess what, You Spelled it Wrong Too!!!

Where did you pick that up from Wikipedia? You're no more "natural Born Swiss" than a wild elephant from Kenya...I just won't bother with you anymore...and by the way "you are the only one I wrote that I "know" is lying" I didn't write that about anyone else...don't try to switch the game here...you're full of it!

I Don't get it, you don't think that there are things that need fixing in the US? I do- Obama can't do it all on his own-where are all those who pledged to support to volunteer? Also like Eric Dyson says we need to remind Obama to keep his eyes on the prize.

Can't accept it can you? Why not just accuse me of being a traitor to the Swiss cause.

Or, will you carry on with your 'I got one on you-nah nah na nah nah' ad nauseum?

Oh forgot to ask who do you presume can't think straight because they are not getting laid?- I kind of lost the thread there, thinking about other things.

..hear, hear...the pot calling the kettle black. You've proven your ignorance by stating that Switzerland doesn't need any additional facility safety measures, as Swiss people are very mature on that subject and the country is too efficient to have a blackout...which is cleary wrong as proven by the newspaper articel that I've added. In addition, other than your childish ad hominem attacks you failed to come up with a half decent post that wouldn't make you look like the insipid troll that you are.

Re: Absolutely disgusted with American politics and the state of living here....

Wow, I have been meaning to post here but didn't get to it, then I come back to this . Is this pre xmas stress? Anyways.

What OP really needs to do, is move to Prague. We have gazilions of yanks already living there happily, you settle in, slowly learn some lingo (or not), get away from US since you sound like you really want to and if that is your priority, you probably shouldn't move into a country that is so hard to stand up on your own feet without already having a job for yourself (not meantioning you have a family to secure, too), learn the language and cope with major culture difference. Prague is chill, cheap and really laid back. Manual labor is appreciated, you might also want to check other jobs. Your wife might find easily job, day care is about 50fr a mo in the state kindy, 800fr in the most expensive elite pre schools, which is a world away from possible 2 400fr a mo here. What else...uhm, it's pretty there. Beer. Fun. Clever people with dark sense of humor. One thing is, you will never be rich. But, you might buy a house, which in Switzerland is impossible for most. Permits not difficult for most parts. Good luck, anywhere you go! And, realize, once you are far from home, you might actually start missing it.

No. That's not what he asked. He asked 'what's life like in Switzerland and what do you think of my idea of moving there with my family?". But even if it were what he asked, doesn't mean it's possible.

PS, there is no such thing as an "EU passport".

Just seems crazy to me that educated people from poor countries would rather just go to Europe or the US rather than try to improve things in their home countries.
Would you understand an educated person who was born, say, in Gary, Indiana but doesn't like to stay and improve things there?

I am not saying that it is possible, basically either partner has to secure a job in CH and that won't be easy.
If someone states the place they are from, then states where they want to move to and asks what it is like, then most people assume that he is using his home as a reference and is implying that others accept his point of reference in attempting to answer his question; proof of which is given by the fact that that is how the majority of people on this forum have reacted.

I have been asked if I have an EU passport, explained thus:

Quote:
The European Union itself does not issue passports, but the passports issued by its 27 members share certain design features.[1] These include the burgundy coloured cover, the use of the words "European Union" (before 1997: "European Community") in the country's official language(s) on the cover, as well as common security features and biometrics.[2]

and if you are interested in applying for one, this is how you do it

America has lost it's common sense and gained corporate greed in it's place. I am ashamed to be a part of such a country. I look forward to the final raping of my rights which will be to be either photographed essentially naked and exposed to unstudied radiation or groped by a stranger when I leave this place. I could go on and on with my frustration, but I feel it unnecessary to the thread.
I can't say I'm unhappy in Switzerland / Europe - but corporate greed and full-body scanners are a reality in Europe as well. And, especially in Switzerland, right-wing polemics and racism are massively on the rise. Large parts of the population vote for the leading right-wing party (SVP) and have been showing clearly racist tendencies over the last couple of years.

Moving to Europe is a major decision that shouldn't be taken lightly. Finding work here would (for you) not be as much of a problem as it is for others - skilled artisans and technicians are in high demand. However, you'd definitely have to invest a year or so into getting certified here. In order to do that, you'll require about 150'000 Fr. in cash to pull through with your family. You'd also need to speak the language of the area you'd be moving to. While you can get by speaking English in the banking, IT or pharmaceutical sectors, on construction sites that's not going to happen. Some unqualified aid workers don't speak German / French / Italian, that's correct - but I've never met an electrician who didn't. And I can assure you, nobody in the construction business here speaks English.

Have you considered moving within the US? There might be places where people are more on your wave-length. Perhaps you could check out California, Colorado or, if you can stand the winters, Minnesota.

Peter
