Christmas Tree Disposal 2010 in Zurich?

Any advice on what to do... our tree is already drying out and I think we need to remove from the house soon. We live in Zurich city, don't have a car and got the tree home by bus.

Thanks!

Bring it to the Viadukt, it can go straight in the back of my van. Our horses love to chew on pine needles!

If you leave it outside your house they will come and collect it. Not sure of the exact dates, but you can probably check on line.

Don't know about your horses GG, but there was an article in our local paper this week saying that unsold trees are given to the elks in Langenberg 'animal park' but used ones are never passed on because of the possibility of bits of wax from candles, pieces of decoration etc. which don't do the animals any good. Each elk eats two Christmas trees a day by the way!

In January the ERZ will take your tree for free. You have to remove all decoration, cut it to 1,5 meters, bind it togther and place it beside your "Zürisack"-Container on the usual weekday.

OK thanks for the info. We called the ERZ today and they said to leave it by our dumpster for pickup. They did not tell us we needed to cut it down or anything. We will see tomorrow if it gets picked up.

It has to be small enough to comfortably fit into the truck's crusher doesn't it? The men are not paid to waste time trying to fit your 2 meter tree into their truck. So please just follow the rules, cut it in half, behave like a native.

Re: Christmas Tree Disposal 2010 in Zurich?

The service men had no problem disposing our tree whole. We did not cut it down and it was taken away with no problem, Perhaps we have bigger trash collecting trucks in our neighborhood?
