Not for me it's not
The 6th is a holiday primarily in Catholic Cantons but not in Protestant Cantons

As this thread came up, can someone tell me exactly which table here is supposed to be days off?

http://www.ne.ch/neat/site/jsp/rubri...leu&DocId=7148

I find it very weird to be only 7 days per year....even easter monday is not vacation in the first table.
Clearly the second table

Here the Calendar of Zürich

Kantonale Feiertage

Den Sonntagen Gleichgestellte Feiertage (gem. Art. 20a, Abs. 1 ArG)

20112012 01. Januar01. JanuarNeujahrstag22. April06. AprilKarfreitag25. April09. AprilOstermontag01. Mai01. MaiTag der Arbeit02. Juni17. MaiAuffahrt13. Juni28. MaiPfingstmontag 01. August01. AugustNationalfeiertag25. Dezember25. DezemberWeihnachtstag26. Dezember26. DezemberStephanstag Lokale, nicht gesetzliche Feiertage im Kanton

20112012 02. Januar02. JanuarBerchtholdstag14. März20. FebruarFasnachtsmontag

Lokale, nicht gesetzliche Feiertage in der Stadt Zürich

20112012 02. Januar02. JanuarBerchtholdstag11. April16. AprilSechseläuten12. September10. SeptemberKnabenschiessen

While the 2nd January is off throughout the Canton, the "Carnical-Monday" is NOT. On Sechseläuten-Monday and on Knabenschiessen-Monday, it is only the City of Zürich and only in the afternoon and not the full day.

And the "3-Königs-'Chueche'" may be fairly popular but is clearly overshadowed by the "Fasnachtschüechli"w

with those of Migros (Midor) clearly the best on the market, beside being cheaper than most of the competition. Those of Coop are clearly inferior

I'm sure wiki will have it accurate...Looks like LU and TI are the places to be!

UK gets very few public holidays (well actually England & Wales gets stuffed big time) Engand 8, Scotland 9, NI 10. Should be the other way round as all the work is done in E&W and you don't need to worry about bank holidays to claim benefits.

I take it the public holidays apply in the Kanton of employment?

Yep - so my poor husband trudged off to work in ZH on Monday morning, only to come home to a can of cold beans for dinner because I had forgotten that all the grocery stores in SZ would be closed.

But at least we had Dreikönigsküche for desert.
