Re: Gift ideas for someone with high stress

Don't happen to want to get rid of the footbath do you??? I could use one...and could get my hubby to give me a foot rub after! PM me if you do!

Somebody gave me a footbath - used it once - still in the box in the barn. Imho a useless. A massage would be great for me - and even better a shiatsu session (sort of healing massage using acupuncture pressure points and stretches).

That's a worthless cheap immitation basketball, I mean, they didn't even bother to paint the whole thing plus its way too small anyway. I hope it bounces better than it looks

Re: Gift ideas for someone with high stress

You know, it's all very nice that you're all suggesting massages and stuff and I suppose some people like that, but I just have to point out that some people (like me!) hate all that stuff - having to make an appointment, find time to actually go there, taking my clothes off - I personally find all that stuff quite stressful on it's own!!

If it were me (obviously it's not but you know) what I think I would like most would be a friend who would come round to my house (not take me out because then I'd have to spend time stressing and dressing and fussing about) bringing maybe a funny movie, a giant box of chocolate or pringles or peanuts and a nice bottle or two of wine, and sit down and chill with me for an evening. Much nicer than gifts of stuff I probably don't want.

I don't think has been mentioned ... a day at a spa, including facial, pedicure, hot stone therapy (if you can find one that combines these things) ...

Or hire someone to spend an hour or two helping her with dishes, laundry, bathroom cleaning.... Then she would have time to sit down and watch tv while smelling her scented candles and relax while you rub her feet and place them in a foot bath.

Take the day off work.
If you live with her, don't tell her. If you don't live with her, think of an excuse why you would need her keys for a day.
Clean her place top to bottom.
Cook dinner for her. If you can't cook, get takeout.. Do something at home where she can just relax.
Make sure there are lots if candles and dim light when she arrives home and play gentle relaxing music in the background.
Buy her flowers, scented candles, bubble bath, body lotion etc all with lavender fragrance. L'occitane is great!

By the end of the evening she will be so relaxed, trust me. My husband did this for me once and it was wonderful.

Re: Gift ideas for someone with high stress

buy her some hand grippers, alot of women in my workplace use em, good for arm/hand strength, also it relieves stress,

and maybe a good dinner meal, and a cosy night out, or in.... sometimes the memory of doing something is better than the gift given

Over her budget? Three times her budget, you mean?

Never mind. At least you got your advert in the thread...

Re: Gift ideas for someone with high stress

Depends on the reason for the stress. If it is the kids: offer her to take care of the kids for the weekend, if it's the household, arrange a cleaning session. If it's the move, arrange some friends for a weekend and help her getting everything unpacked and bring a drill so that her stuff can hang (I could use such friends by the way ).

If it's sick parents or a divorce she is worried about, take her out to the theater so that she can think about something else, or buy her a good book if theater is not her thing. This to be able to escape from the present world for a while.

Massages are great, but if you do nothing about the reason for stress, the stress is back the minute you are dressed again and having to run to the next thing you need to do.

Whatever you do or give her, the biggest gift is when you arrange time for her she does not have to worry....
