Hi Vickis, welcome to Zürich!

What part of Zürich do you live in? There are probably some parks or playgrounds near you (here's a map of playgrounds.) That doesn't sound like much of an activity but at least it gives you a definite goal instead of just going out "for a walk" every time...

Thank you both for posting. I am currently living in Wollishofen but are looking at moving out of the city eventually. Possibly Baden or Uster.

The parks sound great but we would also love to attend some groups where we can meet some friends

Re: Mum in Zurich looking to meet some other mums

There are some great playgroups (where parents stay) very close to the Stadelhofen train station, and, if you do move to Uster, some great playgroups at the Women's Activity Centre (www.wac.ch). There is a list of regularly updated playgroups on the 'families-in-zurich' yahoo group, and the New Stork Times magazine also lists playgroups (www.thestork.ch)

I took my daughter to the Stadelhofen groups and we both made some wonderful friends.

If you're near the Artegut park (near Kreuzplatz), there are often English speaking mums and kid there.

Otherwise, try your local community centre (http://www.gz-zh.ch/) as they usually have playgroups and other activities.

Kate

PM me for more info if you like.

The WAC in Uster is good and I would also recommend Music classes http://www.musictogether.ch/schedules.htm I take my 10 month old son and he loves it.

We also have a regular mums group that meets up once a week in the city our children are between 6 months to 1 year. If you are interested in coming along please pm me

Re: Mum in Zurich looking to meet some other mums

Welcome to Zurich!

I'm a stay-at-home mum with a two-year-old and another on the way in March.
We live in Wollishofen also and have been here for three months.

I have found a couple of playgroups that may be good for you. They are both at the Kinderhaus Entlisberg on Butzenstrasse. and are both playgroups where parents stay. I go to one on a Wednesday afternoon from 2.30pm to 5.30pm. This one is for children up to the age of five (I think) so you get a real mixture of babies and older toddlers. Then on a Thursday from 2.30pm to 5pm there is another playgroup for children up to about the age of two. This group is about movement and giving the kids the opportunity to explore different equipment, toys etc.

I have found both these groups a real life saver in terms of helping me to settle in and chat with other parents.

Feel free to give me a shout if you'd like to meet up some time.

Re: Mum in Zurich looking to meet some other mums

If anyone is interested I have found a playgroup in Erlenbach through another forum I am a member of. Sebastian and I went today and it was fab! It is called Apple tree and the website is www.apple-tree.ch. It is run by an english lady called Suzanne and has the loveliest playroom and activities for the children. The staff are all really friendly and helpful too. We will definately be going back

Hi!

I just saw your post. Are you still going to the playgroup in Erlenbach? I have a 5 months old and we also just moved so still wondering around and figuring out what to do and dying to make some friends with kids

Let me know if you are still going and are still excited about it!

THanks!
