Trailing Spouses

Hi,

If there are any guys out there who have moved to Switzerland because of their Wife's work and would like to have a beer and commiserate / celebrate this turn of fortune then me and one of the presenters of WRS are trying to get us all together in Nyon for some beers.

If you are interested then here is the link to the call to arms:

I totally would, except I'm all the way in Zurich. Sorry.

Good for you for starting this! It is hard to get guys to organize anything outside of sports and drinking, (although this will probably turn into sports and drinking!). I hope you find some buddies. I'm a trailing spouse and I would come but I don't have the right, ahem, equipment.

Hope you get a good turnout.

I'm a trailing spouse, conveniently based in Nyon, and so would be interested to hear more!

Mind you, I am working so I don't know if I'll be disqualified as a result....

I am worried that I have set too stringent a criteria here! Come along if you wish - I'll be accompanied by Catherine Nelson-Pollard from WRS and you should find her photo on their website so you'll know what she looks like.

Re: Trailing Spouses

Very tempting, however I'm in Bern, and the 2 hour trip is a bit much. Any Trailing Spouses in the Bern area?

Re: Trailing Spouses

Wish I had seen this yesterday as I would have tried to come from Gland!

Although ... I'm a trailing boyfriend, do I still qualify? :P

Re: Trailing Spouses

I'm a trailing girlfriend in Basel. I move on Saturday the 25th June and will be looking for jobs once I get there.

Is there anyone in the same situation in Basel?

Lots and lots.

As there are some very large international corporations here, there are many spouses and "s.o.'s" here plus a few of us who moved here because of love for a Swiss spouse.

So, come to some of the events you see posted in the Events portion of the forum, you're bound to meet many and it's not unheard of to click with some.

Good luck and see you soon!

Thanks Peg A

I will look out for the events. My first week I'm going to be along in the flat with a computer and a google job search. I'd love to meet up with people for lunch.

Brilliant - it takes a real man to be a trailing spouse.

Hmmm don't know how I missed this thread before. Been here as a trailing husband for almost 6 months now... Not having any luck on the job hunt so might as well have some fun now and then
