Motor Vehicle transfer issues

I am in Australia and bought (by telephone) a swiss registered antique car at an auction in Paris on the weekend (1938 jaguar). I want to keep it in Europe for about a year so I can do some old car rrallies. One option is to take it to the UK but I was wondering/hoping if someone could tell me the procedures/implications of keeping it in Switzerland (assuming I can find somewhere to house it).
Thanks in anticipation

Re: Motor Vehicle transfer issues

If it is an SS I am happy to look after it for you Have a garage in Nuremberg germany I can kick out the BMW!!! Don't have a garage in Basel, sorry.

Seriously I think you might have troubles to register and insure it since you don't have an address or a residence permit. When I purchased a BMW with the European delivery option, living in the US at the maximum guest status was 3 months but that was Germany. But I am sure there are more knowledgeable people here that will pop up.

I think there is a 'Z' plate option, I know an American with a house in France has a ZH registered car without VAT paid.
