Which may bring you some bad comments and slaps... I mean just the outfit itself deserve a slap.... | | | | | NO slapping, pls. I agree with you, btw. But. I also think even trashy prego is still glowingly pretty, no matter how mature (some I guess just want to show it, proudly). I wouldn't frown at her, no way. I wouldn't bump into her, push her on a train, or walk into her. I would smile, since, what do we know...It may have taken her thousands of whatever currency monies, painful treatments, or months or years to get pregnant, and if she suceeded, some pregos just simply go nuts. Who cares, so what. So, she is one unclassy prego. Still glowing and beautiful, I actually like seing her belly with some pretty little baby I can imagine inside. Class may come laters, just like we learn some skills laters. I would cut her a slack, though, going out dressed like this would be my biggest nightmare. You can be one hot prego mama, just like you pointed above, and look classy and attractive. I bet the second one had a baby girl, she all puffed up.

See, when I was pregnant, it was during a baby boom in Basel (3 years ago) almost every woman was pregnant!!! I wasn't really original...
I am guessing they put something in the water here! | | | | | It did taste a little salty the last time I was there |

This looks lovely:
Its fitted but just the right amount. Its obvious she's pregnant, but its chic and in good taste. (Well I guess that should go for just about anything) If you're pregnant and walking around with fitted clothing that looks well "tacky" or screams "I'm Preggers" then its a turn off.

OK - I have to admit this: When I was pregnant second time, my brother gave me an XXL Sweatshirt with a really cute baby printed on the belly, saying "baby on board" and I loved wearing it.

Even if a woman isn't pregnant she probably wouldn't wear those shoes! You will also notice that the in this photo the woman is not heavily pregnant. That also makes a difference. If a woman is the size of a walrus then thats another story...

I will take as much time as is necessary to talk to them about things that have changed and try and find out their point of view but at the same time it is sometime important to remind them that the younger generation are now in control and we are making some changes.
Basically, the respect should cut both ways. I don't understand where they came from either, I can't relate to the lives they had.

I so agree with Stephanie. But at the same time, what sort of woman would put up with her mil dictating to her like that!? Absolutely no way. Ok I'd understand a mil perhaps giving friendly advice, perhaps about not wearing high heels during late stage pregnancy, or clothes with a tight waistline - but anything more than that, and my mil would have got short thrift!
Nil, I know you don't actually mean it - and although I agree some women do not wear things that suit them and look ridiculous NO WO/MAN ever deserves to be SLAPPED. Thanks.
I remember Czech students staying with us in the UK, and at Easter they made platted whips out of willow twigs and asked if they could 'slap' my daughters and myself as it is a Czech Easter tradition. You can guess what our answer to that was- lightly of figuratively, no man (or indeed woman) will ever come close to slapping me or my daughters. |

The only good thing, since the pagan tradition is supposed to boost girl's fertility, they usually leave the preggos alone.
That mil is so controlling. But they help out with sitting, in fact they sit every single day, so I guess my friend had a reason to "obey" her mil.
Nil, I know you didn't mean slap. Your refined sense of fashion just get offended, I totally understand.

Basic Life Advice .... If you please yourself, then you please others. If you try to please others, neither of you will be pleased.
Wear what makes you happy, what you are comfortable with.
Then you have time to concentrate on Life!

haven't read all the answers - but I don't think elderly people react that way because a pregnant women wears tight clothes but because a woman wears tight clothes
I just always thought that being pregnant is the most normal thing so why should I show off my belly as if I'd done something no one else could do to get a baby bump? (yes if I had a sixpack I'd show it off cause THAT takes a lot of work ).
