Re: What are you giving up for Lent?

I'm going to give up starting Arabic revolutions and breed doves of peace instead.

This is easier than expected. No massive craving of chocolates, but compensating a bit with wine. Can't have it all I guess.

I could go for one too, if it could make that little one to stop kicking and moving so much!

.... definitely sounds like a lil boy and future football star
oh and by the way, when they're that active, they usually stay that way.
Mine was the same, he'd run so fast (by the time he was just 1 yrs old) that I could pick him up, change directions and he'd continue running.
You're in for some fun

Sex?

I am seriously considering it, but am not sure yet if that would benefit others. It is just one less thing to have to schedule for. Just imagine how much more time and energy you will have Nil. No more tired out mornings with hardly any sleep, no more prep time before bed just one less thing to have to worry about!

So how long is lent?

I'm giving up self-denial.

Lent is another of those Christianised pagan things, like Christmas, isn't it?

Well yes.. and no.. It's steeped in a thousand years of Christian history for sure, but it also has a practical side. The idea of fasting, or not eating certain foods until Easter (think Spring season) actually helped the populations give a meaning (and hence accept) to the period of the year when there was very little food (February, end of Winter) and the reserves were low.

I am going on a mono-diet of foie gras and champagne, with occasional chocolate.

I am giving up green salads.

As I'm not religious at all, and don't like to follow anybody - I'm giving up nothing at the mo especially if the end of the world is nigh.

I'll give up my cold. Hopefully it won't take the whole lent, though.

Can someone give up fog as well? Longing to see the sun again!!
