Just needed to get some new reading glasses and wondered if anyone knew of charities that would have my old ones - 2 pairs (one left in the office and one for handbag). I know they are not the strongest lens but they are 2 years old and in good nick.

It seems that the major opticians have programs where they take in your old glasses and then consolidate them (test/mark what strength they are etc.) to give to charities. Ask when you go to get the new ones.

I think that one of the chains (Visilab?) has an offer on at the moment of CHF 100 discount for your old glasses that they then give to charity.

Thanks for this - I already have my new ones (my optician is in the UK and is the family one) but will got to one in the city and see what they'll do - maybe a discount off sunglasses!!! Even if nothing, I would rather the glasses went to someone who needed them and can use them that have them lying about my apartment

Visilab collects them for use in poorer countries.
