Poll: How do you feel about living and working in Switzerland?
 
Based on a recent thread, of someone who is feeling a little "disgruntled" at the moment, I though i would post this poll to see where YOU feel you are in your acceptance (or not) of living and working in Switzerand.

This is obviously a subjective poll, however I think we can all agree that whatever stage we are in, is dependant on many factors...



The 5 stages are based on the Kubler-Ross model... Originally targeted towards the 5 stages of grief of having a terminal illness, or the death of a loved one, it feel that it can be applied to many issues we deal with in our daily life. Ms. Ross, ironically was born in Switzerland....
  1. Denial—"I feel fine."; "This can't be happening, not to me."
    Denial is usually only a temporary defense for the individual.
  2. Anger—"Why me? It's not fair!"; "How can this happen to me?"; "Who is to blame?
  3. Bargaining- "I'll do anything for a few more years."; "I will give my life savings if..."
  4. Depression—"I'm so sad, why bother with anything?";
  5. Acceptance—"It's going to be okay."; "I can't fight it, I may as well prepare for it and accept it."
Edit: Note that the stages do not necessarily have to flow in the above order...

I know we are leaving, I know where we are going but I don't know when.... This drives me insane! Because I can't wait to get out of here....

Fair point... But it appears that there are at least a few folks that fall into that catagory... (and the fact that we cannot edit polls...):msnshock:

2. Cultural Shock ( Rejection )
3. Regression
4. Recovery
5. Reverse Cultural Shock

There are issues I'm not totally OK with, but that doesn't mean I'd like to change the country or just accept it as it is. I'm trying to change my point of view and my attitude and progress with my life here. It would be silly of me to want the same things I'd want somewhere else. Different countries offer different things and wanting a glass of anything to become a cheeseburger is just pure stupidity. Besides, it makes no one happy. If the glass is half full I'll take a smaller glass -- that way you'll have a full (and in many cases healthier) one! ;)
