since Switzerland are singing in English, NULL point from me! Pure cheating !
Foul-Play is when English speakers demand from people in CH always to understand and to speak English, and when Switzerland USES this capability to its advantage, cry out "cheating cheating" ! This is absolutely unfair, and definitely unacceptable.

In addition to this, much of music and entertainment in Switzerland since the 50ies has been in English, so what.

As Switzerland so often crashed with German, French and Italian songs, next time it might rather be in Romansh or in view of the big foreign communities in Albanian or Turkish or Tamil !

.

But you have 4 languages to choose from ! It should be 1 year German , 1 year French, 1 year Italien , and the next Roman...h........ thats enough to be getting on with ! You are right its totally unacceptable every country should sing in their native langauage , I totally agree !

There used to be a rule that all songs were in their native language or English. Don't know if that still applies.

Re: Eurovision Song Contest 2011

Actually it used to be that they could sing in either. Then for a long time they could only sing in their native language which was for some countries a penalty and favored others. Now they can sing in both again.

It used to be German - French - Italian as long as the national-language doctrine was active. But it first of all lead to a clear OVER-representation of the French (20%) and the Italian (6%) parts of the country, and was a definite DISadvantage.

Well, you can call me any name under the sun, in any language, but I truly don't give a monkey's, and I ain't watching it - we called it the European Cr*p Test in our house (UK) when our kids were little. Life's too shortlol

It no longer applies. The rule was dropped, thanks to pressures of some countries. Switzerland threatened to drop out of the Contest and to reduce payments to the Eurovision organisation, unless they came to senses

I am not a fan of the program, but watching it in HD makes it look better.

We want to vote too but we don't have Swiss tv as we don't really watch it. So what is the phone number to call and vote from Switzerland? Does anyone have it?
