In (UK) English, "the Sabbath" indicates the day of rest - for Jews normally Friday evening to Saturday evening, for the majority of Christians, Sunday. The OP is somewhat different from the majority of Christians for wishing to observe the Sabbath on a Saturday. Funny thing is, this is the second time I've encountered this view, this month.

Sabbath is actually from friday sunset to saturday sunset. Friday is preparation day. i know its not common but its my personal choice. And has nothing to do with salvation anyway. Just a change in habit which goes back to creation day when God chose to bless the seventh day...a place in time. Keepin it doesnt make me more saved than sunday worshippers. But having my eyes opened to this basic truth (4th commandment) i would betray the calling if i choose to not follow.

Basically, im ur normal bible-centered, born again, protestant who prefers to worship on saturdays. Well maybe not that normal but still..relatively...yep. I have a problem with labels and traditions. God is my judge.

I really do NOT mind at all, as I am personally not religious - however I do find it strange (maybe it is just me) that the day of the Sabbath is so important to your faith, and yet living with someone before marriage is not.

I'd say that settles it.

Don't worry, though. Every request for information about churches on EF tends to turn into a debate of some sort or another. That's the, er, beauty of the place...

I must admit that that raised my eyebrows as well - the two would not normally, in my experience, go together. But each to their own. The lovers in the song of solomon (song of songs/canticles) do not appear to be married, so it's not un-biblical, depending on context.

Yep. And the Paul said - don't worry about keeping it. If you want to, do so, if you want to keep every day special - do that. Don't judge anyone for what they do in these matters.

I've always been a fan of Thursdays.

yes but see the difference in the end? compare "Paul said" to "the mouth of the Lord has spoken"...some bible texts are more important than others but they all work together. The Word is sufficient. Which is why i said i dont believe im more saved if i keep the sabbath, however if given the chance, like now, i would strongly encourage it among fellow christians. Who wouldnt want to follow the 10 commandments in all its fullness? If it would ATLEAST, please Him?

Well the day of the sabbath IS in the 10 commandments. It cant get more basic than that. Iam careful with my actions (living together before marriage) Even though i have some guilt about premarital sex, i know whats in the bible and whats not. And even if its not in there, i still am sensitive enough to not parade my status around especially in old fashioned churches

Re: looking for a church to join in AG

I don't wish to pursue a bible study with you in these forums. I respect your desire to keep Friday evening until Saturday evening as your Sabbath, and important to your relationship with God.

I'd remind you that "don't judge" works both ways - and it was not judging people for the days they wish to keep special I wished to bring out in referencing Paul, in your defence.

Sorry, but NT trumps OT each time for any Christian.

says who? says the Christians who believe that Christ´s death on the cross abolished all the rules. So why do u STILL go to church if its all summed up to "love one another".

Well i dont mean to react but im just not the NT versus OT type. they are married to each other.

And about the passages, since someone gave the link to a verse, i just simply responded with one from the same site.

Thanks for all the info and helpful links everyone. I just feel bad about the comment on my living together with my boyfriend before marriage but i know theres alot of words to describe such comments and/commenters. Ive no energy for it. peace

And the parents of a well-known preacher from rural Galilee have also not been married.

The only churches that I am aware of that worship on Saturdays are Adventist churches. They are of American origin so there are very few in Europe. The largest and most well-known is SDA, but that church is a bit controversial due to the role of Ellen G. White. But if you are interested, their website for German Switzerland is http://www.stanet.ch/dsv/

Good luck in finding the right church.

Re: looking for a church to join in AG

My comment was about surprise, not judgment, about the reason for one thing being more important than another. One fact is for sure, you are unlikely to convince your 'average' Church group in CH, be they Protestant or Catholics that the Sabbath should take place on Saturday, and that living together before marriage is of lesser importance. Would it be seen as such in your 'home community'?

I do sincerely wish you the best of luck in finding a Church that you feel comfortable with near where you live. You do seem however to judge 'those commenters'. As you say Peace and may your God go with you.
