Re: Some more stuff found in the house

My gran found a gravestone in her house in France - she got some more rough stones and made a garden table and benches out of stone with it.

Loving your treasure postings, very interesting.

Sell it all to an "authentic" pub for about a million CHF.

Re: Some more stuff found in the house

Thought I'd update this thread.

Today we had a visit from a guy and his wife, who's grandparents used to own the house. He said they were in the area walking, so decided to have a quick look at the house where he'd spent his holidays. He told me all about what the house and area used to look like, so I told him we had some old photos that were left here by the past owners. Having shown them to him, he said the old lady we had a photo of was his mother, the 2 photos of a man we had, he said one was his grandfather and he thought the other was his great grandfather and seemed really pleased that I'd shown them to him. He thinks that his great grandfather was killed in the mountain avalanche in Elm in 1881, so was going to do some research on him. I also showed him the wreath in a box and he said that it was (I think) his grandmother, or some other relative (can't remember - I think he was going to take a look at a family tree he had). He ended up taking the 2 photos of the men and the wreath away with him, but unfortunately didn't want to take the gravestone with him.

He said that next time they were in the area they would come by with some photos of what the house used to look like. He was also interested in the letter we found, so I said I would copy it for him.
