Nope, it came out of a tin and we used to fight over the maraschino cherry
Did you have Carnation milk with it?
Was there ever another way?

Thats how I know they are fruit spoons and not soup spoons. You see the maraschino fight involved wacking each other with the spoon, and a soup spoon hurts more than a fruit spoon. Simples
Yes, they do seem a bit shallow to be soup spoons cocker, after all these contributions I will stand by my assertion that, indeed, Switzerland is a land where they are extremely scarce...

I bring tidings from the far land of St Fridolin!

In the local Migros, a mere two minutes' walk from our lodgings, we found these:

Attachment 25533

Yes! Soup spoons! With a 50% discount!

Jubilate! Exsultate! &c

I think I need a sit down.
IF ! it really is what you expect, do NOT sit down but get up and purchase some of the stuff, as some other expats may be on their way right now ! Looks as if the local Migros had detected some nice old "Ladenhüter" (guards-of-the-shop) right now

Nope.

Not a single one of those spoons was a soup spoon.

There really is no hope for you, is there?

In that case he MUST be a banker, possibly a "banker in disguise" ! Reminding me of the old song of Presley

Nah. He's a she, and she's definitely not a banker.

She's pretty sound, actually, even if she doesn't let me cancel all my classes and go for a beer down by the lake on a sunny Thursday afternoon.

According to definition in Continental Europe,
ALL of them ARE soup spoons

Just because a chimpanzee calls a worm lunch, it doesn't make it a sandwich.

Klar?

Not at all. As most of Europe calls these things SOUP SPOONS they ARE soup spoons, even if some "islanders" have a different view about it

Re: Soup Spoons [and other things "missing" in Switzerland]

As children we would have been condemned to eat our bread and water in the kitchen for a week had we not been able to distinguish between tea-spoons, coffee-spoons, fruit-spoons, fruit serving-spoons, soup-spoons, dessert-spoons, table-spoons, kitchen-spoons, grapefruit-spoons and measuring-spoons at a tender age.

No. The phrase "soup spoon" is an English phrase, made up of two English words. If you wish to use the phrase "soup spoon" to refer to a spoon, you may only use it to refer to the kind of spoon that a native speaker of English would call a "soup spoon".

Please, Mr Hofener, feel free to call those pointy abominations "suppenloefeli" or "cuiller a soup" or "zuppa cucchiaio" or whatever, but don't even dream of calling them "soup spoons" because they aren't, and never will be.

There.

That's settled.
