I think Ittigen is referring to what the neighbour could have done, not you personally.
Ah, I see - sorry Ittigen

In that case, I couldn't agree more

Because the parking space next to my car was taken, and I did not have my car keys with me, I could not park my motorbike in front of my car, against the wall (her usual place [yes, my bike is a "she" ]). So, I parked her on the washing place, temporarily, and of course forgot for the next two days.

Today I got an e-mail from the landlord, that several neighbours had complained. Now they obviously know very well that it is my bike, but instead of speaking to me directly, they go and whine to the landlord! Are they scared or polite?
Interesting, when we moved into our new appartment, we got complaints from the neighbours that we had damaged the lift, which is kind of interesting as our lift is also shared with the local Co-op. There does seem be a reluctance to address issues face to face.

In any event, Switzerland has been far the nicest country that I have lived in as expat, as in the majority of instances neighbours at least are very respectful of one another, just that it slips into not wishing to cause a direct issue.

Re: Scared or polite?

Remember: Switzerland is a very small country, where your neighbour is in the same Verein as your boss who plays golf with your landlord, who is the cousin of the officer at the Passkontrol in your Gemeinde and so on...... that's why a majority of Swiss prefer to avoid issues and direct confrontation.
