| | Re: Dining faux pas | Quote: | | | | | I have to say that, waaaaay beyond even the worst possible faux pas during dinner, the Number#2 Criminal in the Weejeem Catalogue of Criminal Dining Offences is the (vegetarian/vegan/fructarian/non-beef/non-pork/lactose-intolerant/gluten-free/meatatarian/...)* who waits until 5 nanoseconds before dinner is about to be announced and only then asks, with a "butter wouldn't met in their mouth" straight face, the 'question' ..."You did remember that I'm (vegetarian/vegan/fructarian/non-beef/non-pork/lactose-intolerant/gluten-free/meatatarian/...)*, didn't you?" ...whilst knowing full well that this is the first time they've ever bl***dy mentioned it. But the Number#1 Criminals in the catalogue are the ones who pull this stunt, and then still expect to get fed!!! *Delete/insert effing awkward dietary traits/fads/fashions as required. | | | | | One of my favourite movie quotes...."He don't eat no meat. Ok, I make lamb."

while dining out in Basel with a friend, I was done with the course in front of me, and didn't want any more. As my grandmother, who was very much adept in table manners and etiquette, taught me, I moved the plate to the side to indicate that it could be removed.
My friend yelled at me and told me that I was being rude by moving my plate because it suggests that I am rushing the wait staff.

She's lucky to be there and not at home with the lights and fire turned off. | | | | | You make it sound like you actually bother to take your missus out for dinner. The last menu I looked at was for the local kebab house and the lights and heating were off |

My first experience with one of those ladies no-price menus:
My then boyfriend took me for a slap up meal to celebrate my 18th. I took one look at the menu and called for the waiter to tell him that there was a printing error because it didnt include prices, and to get me a new one.
/facepalm
till today, I feel incredibly nervous when I get one of those and get extra stressed even though I know my other half is paying. I am such a curious cat and hate the idea of not knowing!
