Either there are two people posting here, with a single agenda, and unable to read, or one person logs in twice. I wonder if that means they have half an agenda per ID.

Many countries have rights of free travel within their borders, and they have rights to leave and to return (for citizens) I don't believe any states, even the UN, state that travel and habitation anywhere you choose is a natural right. | | | | | Purely personal opinion - where all laws must once have originated.
Whether something is ruled for or against we live in a world where rules are continually re-written and re-interpreted. In my utopian world this is, as I said, a fundamental right. I know I am unusual right now but I believe it the height of societal arrogance to assume that because one has the right paperwork due to an accident of birth one can choose to live where another, who may be a far more worthy contributor to society, may not.
Equally I find people who take more pride in a national anthem than they do in their own behaviour a truly frightening and mind-numbing concept.

Yes the poor kid is the victim in this.
But in the end the parents knew perfectly well what they were doing. The well-being of their daughter should have been something they took into consideration when making their decisions.
Whilst it is extremely unfortunate that the girl has to go through this, the parents are here illegally and rightfully should be deported. What can be done here? nothing. Keeping the daughter here so that she can be with her friends and thus splitting the family is not the answer. Allowing the parents to stay for the sake of the daughter is also wrong as it will create a loophole for any foreigner with a kid to come here.
In a sense discussing this whole issue is kind of pointless. Not sure what the OP expects from posters here. I can say I sympathize for the daughter, but that's all really.

Girl is from Kosovo, Kosovo is not a war zone, Kosovans wanted their own country and they got it so maybe time to build it up instead of running away and being deceptive in a law abiding country like Switzerland? | | | | | Yes. That's right. But the other side of the internet-behaviour story are the immediate knee-jerk reactions against anything somebody writes on here.
Yes, the parents probably did something wrong in the bureaucratic processes. But we don't even know if they were refugees... how do all the people writing about taxes and healthcare know that they were not working, paying taxes... and even if they were refugees, war is not the only valid reason. Kosovo is run by a network of Mafia and former UCK fighters. If you were opposing them, your life is in danger and there might be plenty of valid reasons to run away from them, especially with children. So banging the xenophbic "throw them out" drum automatically just because they are "Yugos" is at least equally wrong.

It is quite startling when it happens to someone you know.
One of the local pizza delivery drivers happened to be a very nice, friendly guy. I was having a drink at one of the tables outside the pizza place when he drove back in the little delivery car they use.
Sitting in the passenger seat was a large border guard; behind him was another car being driven by another large border guard. They took the pizza delivery driver away & I never saw him again.
I assume his papers were not in order; I have no clue where he came from originally.

| | Re: "My best friend just got deported" | Quote: | | | | | are you implying that irish people in Switzerland are leeching on tax payers? | | | | | Not more or less than the average Yugoslavian I met here. They were typically not earning a lot but therefore working easily as hard as their Swiss colleagues.
I think that Ireland as a country was leeching from the EU for the past two decades... and got way more money from other tax payers than Kosovo. Which in turn might actually need it to rebuild a country rather than to use the money to sponsor the lowest corporation taxes...

We simply do not know the circumstances and very few,if any facts. Perhaps we could get you to argue your case with the little girl in question.

Most of you are expats so you have a different attitude than the locals. However, it's the locals who vote and decide Switzerland's future.
Just wanted to bring everyone back to reality.

Hopefully, the kid will get in touch with her class, in the future. I believe in Kosova, they have a postal service. Or maybe she'll be back in school tomorrow, because some lawyer has got an injunction or something. Who knows?

And second, most of the Swiss I know aren't, in fact, knee-jerk, anti-immigrant xenophobes. Though they will agree that if you break the rules, you take the consequences.
